Default removing tires

Hi all,

Ive just got some new tires for my touring car and ive glued them onto the rims.
Went out for some practice and rounded the hex inside the rim, the tires are still prefect and i don't want to waste them.

Would it damage the compound of the tire if I was to boil them off the rims? Would be good if not as I can put them on better wheels.

Cheers!

Default boiling...

acetone would alter the compound of the tyre possibly, but boiling should not as boiling water is not hot enough to alter rubber..... so safer to boil them....

In my honest opinion.....

yes boil them for about 15-20 mins (use old pan) then drop them into cold water and the glue just cracks and you can peel them off

+ 1 for boiling no smells and come of clean as a whistle.i have found a little longer makes it a lot easier on thickly coated tyres.(yes i have had some with about 5mm given to me for the wheels)

have had a few people mention it may alter there compund, if removing for replacing with new tyres of course thats does not matter, but if re using the tyres, it might be an issue, not tried it. but mentioning it....

Give it a try! Makes them super soft and really quite poor

I know the Schumacher green compound tyres go harder and feel a bit more brittle, if that makes any sense.

Boiled them off yesterday and they came off a treat, dosent seem to have altered the compound at all which is great as they are literally 2 heats old with a destroyed wheel

They are Sorex 28R's which is man made rubber, dont know what the schumi buggy ones are but i might try a set and see if it affects them.
