Default First Aider

The council are requesting that we have a qualified First Aider attending the North East regional at South Shields, at the end of May.

Is anyone attending this event a first aider, with a certificate that is currently valid?

Thanks to anyone that can help out with this,

Chris Pattinson.

Since you weren't going to be racing, they said that wouldn't be necessary

Yep, I'm all tangled up in the red tape about working with councils.

Lee - thanks for that, I'll see if that is ok with them.

The response from the council, after advising them of your offshore training incorporating first aid:

"We would need to see proof of a First Aid qualification"

So does it mention first aid on any certificates?

That is one of the sectors i am covered for, i basically have what is called a vantage card which they swipe at a heliport and its all on a big database.

The vantage card just has my name on it and me not looking at the camera

Ok, cheers Lee,

The council are looking for2 first aiders and 2 st Johns ambulance for an event with under 300 attendees and general public watching.

This is turning into a bit of an pain in the neck, so we now need another first aider, and two of you lot to dress up in St Johns uniforms!!!

This is like the opposite of kirklees / huddersfield council. I went and 'watched' a council sponsored rc race in huddersfield park once a couple of years back... it was the most dangerous disorganised gathering of muppets I've ever seen in my life. Guy walking his dogs along a path had to dive out of the way of a shell-less monster nitro truck at full pelt, for example. AWESOME

This sounds very OTT. Do they realise that this is model car racing and unlikely to bring any incidents? Sounds like there is a jobsworth at the council crossing T's and dotting i's.

You ought to get intouch with them and show them magazine articles, printouts from oOple pictures, and show them just how safe this is and just how valueable it is not to kill it with red tape when it is getting potential ASBO youngsters off the street and giving them an interest.

The BRCA may be able to intervene with it being for a BRCA regional, it would be worth asking the question to Charlie, even if he says no he may have some good suggestions.

Chris L, this is at the request of the council's insurance not the council per se. The council guys are really helpful to be honest, and they have all seen the cars running at Bents Park last year and also at the indoor regional.

However like us they can also be at the mercy of OTT insurance companies!!

The only place an accident will happen though is on the track, a cut finger is not something you would sue the council for.

Surely if someone gets hit by a car or falls of the rostrum it is covered by our brca insurance
