Default Motors

I have recently finished building my 1st SC truck, from talking to the fellow Short Coursers at my local club the general opinion for what motor is best suited to a 2WD SC is either 10.5 or 13.5.

Now I am usually a buggy racer either 2WD or 4WD in the past, and they have alot hotter motors in them (5.5, 6.5 or 7.5) and was wondering is it mad to go that way with a 2WD SC, say 7.5 or 8.5 what does others reckon

Generally in SC you can go lower on the turns for more power, but increase the can size by fitting a 550 sized motor instead. A 7.5T 540 will get pretty hot.

LRP do the X12L (Long) which are ok, but personally id go with the speed passion or its re-branded version like >THIS<

550 motors are for 4WD SCT's, an X12L would rip a 2wd gearbox to bits... My 4.5T x12L had literally twice the power output of a 6.5T X12!

8.5T competition motor is as hot as you want to go really in a 2wd SCT, they are funny and very quick With 6.5's in but don't handle well and you have to weight them so much you lose benefit of faster motor.

I run an 8.5T X12 LRP motor, on tracks with long straights it gets some boost added on speedo

Really I would have thought my poor little SC would burn out with that monster in there!

My SC10 is surprisingly fast with the stock ESC and 3300kv motor from a RTR B4.1.
Much more power and you spend all the time doing doughnuts and not making much progress!

Thanks for the comments fellas - currently I have a 10.5 and it is pretty quick compared to the other trucks, so I can see some experimenting coming on

I use a 7.5 motor but i do play around with speedo settings. i.e less top end more punch. But like chimp man said if you go to fast then your losing benifits of cornering
