Default Schumacher Tyres

I bought a job lot of schumacher tyres which included 3 full sets of mini spikes in blue, green and red compound and 2 full sets of full spikes in red and green or blue (can't remember).

I know i can use the green mini spikes but would the blue or red ones ever be of use and if so in what conditions? Also are full spikes ever used anymore and also what conditions / surfaces?

The red compound feel really soft (maybe similar to BB pinks?)

Thanks.

Hey Colin,
Are the red compound 2" tyres or 2.2"?

Going back over 15 years or so, Schumacher used to do Green, Red and Blue compound in 2" and the Red was like Yellow now, but not identical. But then later on they did a BIBX compound which may have red dots on, these were insanely soft, a Durex has more rigidity!!

The full spikes may be useful if you are racing in the NE regionals on one of the flat grass tracks and it turns wet. For the NW tracks (Bury & Southport) the full spikes don't work in the wet on Astro or on Concrete/tarmac.

Chris

Hi Chris,

Not sure on the size, i'll check the U6x numbers when i get home but they did feel really soft, much softer than yellows.

If they are the BIBX were they any good? And also are blue used anymore?

Thanks for the info.

i only remember using BIBX on clay type surfaces, but the wear rate was insane (barely a run and they were totalled). I never got to try them on any other surface though. Did anyone else?

I've got some blues at home, and i reckon they could work on fresh grass, or fresh wet grass. Worth a go

The BIBX compound was made for the UK Worlds when they were in Basildon. They were super soft to compete with Losi/Proline tyres which were good for dirt.

I don't think they are much use to us.

BUT I could be wrong on them being BIBX, as I thought BIBX was just done in Minispikes, not Full spikes.

Thanks for reply's...

checked the numbers and the mini spikes are the BIBX ones.

Front - U6566-l - BIBX
Rear - U6565H - BIBX

kind of gives it away

the full spikes must be old ones...

Blue Front U6529X (these appear to be 2.2")
Blue Rear T687E (not much info on these)

Red Front T653W (no info)
Red Rear T651U (no info)

Thanks again.

useful to keep the bibX in your box - you might need those bad boys one day. I tried them at the 2005 Euros on worn grass, but I don't think it was worn enough. I tried them at the 3A National and I had more traction than any other car on the track and got in the D final at a National with a 19 turn spec motor - good times! bibX rule!

I think purple/pink schumacher mini spikes are a LOT lot lot softer than bibX though - I have some of those also kicking about.

Pinks were silly soft - i may still have some kicking around at home.

The red's you have will be very hard, and most likely 2 inch. Questionable how much they may be, but i'm sure you can find something.

He used them at the veterans last year and won i think. I bought his S4 and they had a set of bibex tyres on and i think they must of only done 2 runs and the spikes had sort of fallen off they hadnt worn on the ones which were still their. Not much use when they are like that.

suprised they even lasted 5 minutes let alone 2 runs!

I remember you had to be careful putting them on the wheels else you would wear them out
