Default Advice on Futaba 4PL vs 4PKS vs any other

Hiya

I am getting back into RC racing via my son. He is kitted out but I have bought a B44.1 and have a couple of local clubs to race at. One astroturf outdoor and one indoor carpet.

I want to get a decent 2.4Ghz radio system and have heard great things about Futaba. I have the chance to get a 4PL for about 130 quid or a 4PKS for 180. Is the 4PKS worth the extra and would I see a benefit for what I am going to use them for?

Also am I spending too much and would a much cheaper Flysky/W6/Spektrum etc do the job for less?

Any help much appreciated.

If you have the budget for it, the Futaba quality is worth the investment.

Given the choice, I'd probably go for the 4PL because it uses the cheaper-but-just-as-good-in-practice S-FHSS receivers, and has all the functions you would ever need.

Probably just as important is to see if your son can get a feel for both transmitters in his hand. If they are uncomfortable, there is no point.

Thanks for the advice. We will need a system each and the Futaba will be mine and I will get a cheaper one for him as he is only 10 and we will want to bash together as well. He can progress to sharing the Futaba when he gets a proper racing buggy.
