Can anyone tell me if they found the need for limiters in their TRF Buggy Dampers? My fronts are really close, but the rears are way way too long! Are these longer than the stock DB01 dampers, or maybe it was a mistake in my build. My DB01 looks more like a monster truck with these dampers than a buggy.

you will need at least 2 o-rings under the piston on the rear, three might be safer.
And yes, they are longer

Can anyone post some pictures of their DB01 with the TRF dampers and what they did to get the bloody ride height down???? I put 3 o-rings in the rear and it is still too high. I am not sure the ideal height, but it is bothersome that these dampers are really too long for this kit.
Also, how do you get these dampers to be smooth? I am not used to aeration dampers and can't get them to stop squeaking when they compress. I feel like a noob with them on my Durga! Finally, does anyone have a setup they have used on a indoor dirt track? I am trying to find some place to start since I am brand new to all of this. |

I bought the 3Racing rear tower, then remade the top half of it to raise the shocks up 6mm and now I get propper ride height.
You could try AE springs, they are shorter apparently.

AK - sorry, I posted this on that 'other' forum, but i should help you on my own forum instead
![]() ![]() ![]() If the dampers are 'squeaking' excessively then you need more oil in the shocks, but yes they might well squeak a little even when properly filled. Just drive faster and no one will know ![]() I think I have 2 orings in the rear and it's not too high. Outdoors I am running with the threaded adjuster all the way at the top - which seems a good height. Indoors I was running with no adjuster and the springs resting at the top of the shock bodies.. I know this isn't ideal but it's the only way. No point limiting your shocks more without taking the adjusters off or you're creating a pre-loaded spring. The shocks aren't too long btw, more like the rear tower is too short - I realise this is no comfort but it's a fact that the suspension is based off the 501X but they made the rear tower several mm lower than on that car. Not much you can do about this right now to be honest as there are no options available - unless you buy the 3Racing rear tower and get a new higher upper piece made. Edit: I didn't try it, but my friend built a nice Durga with the 501X shocks but since he's a little obsessive about details he doesn't do silly things like leave ride height adjusters off, or cut springs. He showed me his car with I beleive short durga kit shock bottom rod ends - which reduced the length of the shocks enough that he didn't need limiters in the shocks. I only saw the car for a minute and didn't exactly take notes so I can't confirm anything - but maybe it's worth looking at changing the rod at the bottom (and maybe even the spring cup if there's another in the kit - should be two) |
