Default Differences - DEX410 Vs. DEX410 V3

Hiya

Im just weighing something up, nothing solid. If a DEX410 came up cheap what items wuold be needed to transform it to the V3 version, if it can be done ?

Is there anything necessary on a DEX410 that breaks easy ?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Ta

John

I asked the same question to a couple of lads from the local club, they own both versions and they said the only difference is

14mm wheel hex
Shock towers
25mm battery strap
Centre bulkheads
Shell
Also the new shocks have leaky o rings

The shocks on my V3 aren't leaking and they were built with kit o-rings. Plenty of AE green slime is the key to a good shock build IMO.

Breakages wise, I have broken a front bulkhead and a front shock shaft (different times, unrelated incidents). I also had a drive shaft failure first time out but TD helped me sort this one.

Biggest problem I've had is wheels coming undone! I would recommend getting the alloy hexes from the off as I suspect the plastic ones can be slightly compressed which causes the nut to undo itself. I use the TD ones but hear good things about the Tresrey ones.

You can try and get threaded & serrated wheel nuts but the front need to be low profile or it wont fit the box.

I also have the alloy servo saver and an alloy servo horn. The former was recommended to me as a build time inclusion by CD @ TD and the latter was fitted after stripping the plastic one.

Otherwise, seems strong - much stronger than my previous 4wd (FS2).

if you're changing from the original DEX410 release then the driveshafts are also the 2mm versions. If you have the 2010 spec 410 then it already has the 2mm driveshafts, but also already takes 25mm lipos too.

The centre bulkhead is effected too by this.

I used green slime on my 210 shocks and they still leaked, my original 410 shocks didn't. I used Tamiya orings instead and problem solved. TD use softer orings on the V3 and 210 which I found out when I compared them.

I'd go for a 2nd hand full fat 2010 spec to be honest and chuck the plastic side pods on it. Big bores aren't necessary they make the car react slower.

I have a similar question. I just trade a 1/8 roller I had for a 410R.
The guy built it but it sat on the shelf never used so it's basically brand new. I was assuming it was the 410R V3 but I'm not 100% sure.
How can I tell if its the 410R or the 410R V3? Also is there not a 410R V2?
Team Durango made this a bit confusing.

As far as i can tell there is a 410 (original), 410 2010 spec (25mm battery tray, 2mm shafts), then the 410R and (another) 410 which seem to effectively be V2 cars. And now the V3 versions of the 410 and 410R. I may be wrong.

The big visual clue is that the V3 cars have big bore shocks.

I'm sure someone with a better handle on it will probably be able to correct me tho!

It dosent really matter which model you have they are all basically the same from 2010 on.All I would reccomend to make it bulletproof in order of prefrence are
alloy servo saver
alloy rear diff clamps
alloy rear hinge pin holders
alloy front hinge pin holders
I have run 2 of these ( full fat 2010 for me and a 410R for my 9 year old son, who just won the Irish clubman championship with it ) indoor & outdoor nearly every weekend for the last 18 months.
I have tried the big bores but the car feels better for me on the small bores.
The only parts broken have been the rear shock towers ( but that was going to a new track and landing badly off very big jumps).

Thank you.
So from what I gathered was the first 410R and 410 2010 was basically a V2.

Well still would be nice to know what version I had.
Looks like the old DEX410R since I don't have big bores
Now I'm wondering what all the differences on the DEX410R V3 and the older one are.
Edit: Congrats on your son winning!!!
