Just about to order my X5 and was wondering what spur gear to use as i run a checkpoint 10x2, having read various posts it seems people are using the larger spurs for getting better gearing?
![]() any advice greatly appreciated ![]() thanks

The larger spur gears were really introduced for brushless motors, which just run better with really low ratios (11:1, 12:1 kind of ratios). The stock spur in the kit is the 104, and that should be a great starting point with a 10 turn motor. Here in the US I'd recommend a 17 tooth pinion with a 10 turn, but due to the different tires and surfaces (assuming you're in the UK) I'd really recommend whatever the other guys say.

on a std spur and a 10 wind brushed i would say around 16-18 depending on track and conditions

Think I only ever ran brushed once in the car but I reckon the 18 tooth for the 10.

Try the kit 104 to start with, really not to sure with brushed to be honest.
Shock wise, front: 40wt orange piston green spring Rear: 30wt blue piston white spring or pink if you can't make a rear roll bar. |

I used to use 18/104 on a Checkpoint 10x2.
What I suggest you do is try 18/106 as a starting point, and if you want more punch go to the 108, if you want more top-end, go to a 104. Be aware that changing 2 teeth on the spur is going to effect the ratio by less than 2% so you might not notice much effect, whereas changing by 1 tooth on the pinion will effect the ratio by over 5%. |

I was running 18 or 19 -104 with a brussed 10 turn Reedy motor at Eden Park.
Just check the heat on the motor after your run. to be honest I didn't notice much of a difference from one tooth. I'm making the jump to a 10.5 brushless this weekend though just to slow myself down. ![]() My plan for the regional is to keep it on 4 weels and learn to drive again. ![]() |

Got mine fron DC racing on Thursday, very quick turn around..
![]() Keep in mind that his suggestion was to use white springs if you can make up a swaybar. If not you may want to go to a slightly harder spring like pink. |

I run either a 1.2mm or 1.6mm bar.
Either will do though to start with. And even without it the car is not terrible with a white rear spring but it is better with it. E. |

Just bought a Sway Bar Kit for my X5 (TLA-4257 for a XXX4)
The sway bars themselves do not fit the X5. Does anyone know where I can get the wire to make my own ? Cheers |

I guess the Trinity Sway Bar set for the XX4 is the one everybody uses ?
I guess it would be a direct fit. |
