Default Intermittent power to motor

Hi guys

Running a sensored 5.5 motor in my B44.1. Been fine for months, well, since I out all the new kit in.

However today, it was running fine for about 3 mins then started 'clunking'. Now I have an intermittent throttle issue. The motor won't spin unless you wobble the spur gear slightly, thus moving the motor.

It's an Orca motor so I'm thinking sensor wire or motor? Could it be anything else?

Neil

It could either be the motor sensor board, sensor wire, or the board on the esc. Swap the motor and sensor wire for one you know that works, and test again. If it sorts it out then it's either the motor or the wire. If not it's the ESC .

Hi Mate,
I think its a case of trying all the usual fault finding... trying new sensor wire, putting old sensor wire and motor on new speedo etc... The only other thing it could be is something wrong with the sensor board on the motor (I think they're called 'hall sensors' or somesuch). I know some of the newer motors you can get new sensors for them, the old motors just end up as scrap when this happens..

Have you been landing any big jumps to 'flat' lately? That amount of shock has killed a couple of mine in the past...

Good luck...

The motor needing a "push" to get going can mean one of the banks of FETs has died in the speedo.

What speedo is it?

Orca. Tried a new sensor wire and no difference. Will try the motor on a different speedo tonight to elimiate all options. But yes, it does need a push.

Not really, this was zooming about on a carpark running in some trial diffs I found! Fine for a few mins then clunking.

Haha, I know you're good for it bud. I'll give it to Imull tonight to have a gander (local guru) to see what he thinks, then we'll go from there, no point sending it back etc until I/we know 100%

Phase A onthe esc has gone. Orca going back to Answer RC via Kev Lee at Inside Line Racing on Monday so fingers grossed for a successful turn around.
