I've recently looked into having the chassis fabricated and the upkick means that a mold needs to be made. This costs around £200+ vat making the cost of a single chasis very high.
However if I was to pay for the costs of the mold, this would become mine, making me the sole distibutor of the chasis. I could then supply these chassis for around £70-£80 each. This price would come down in time too. I think maybe this price is a little high, but this would be a really high quality part, so question is, would you mini 8ight owners be willing to spend that kinda money? I think it will decrease weight and imporve handling massively. Thanks for any input, Danny. |

Hi Danny, sounds like a good idea but quite pricey when you consider £80 for a chassis could buy you a Carisma GT14B pro conversion kit? Are you thinking of an exact copy of the stock chassis or a tub?

Yes, it would be an exact copy of the original chasis, so the plastic sides would still be used with it. The only other option is to have a flat chasis made and to modify the front end somehow, I think this would be a difficult alternative but would end up cheaper.
I know I'd happily pay £70 for a replica chasis in carbon fiber, but maybe I'm crazy. ![]() |
