Default Last years motors...

I am looking for a new motor and can only afford one of last years models which now are reduced to around £50.

Is there much difference between the different makes or are they all much the same?

Looking at either a 7.5 or an 8.5 for a 2wd Durango to be used with a 120a xerun.

Can anyone recommend a good one to go for and a website I can find it?
Must be around the £50 mark.

Thanks

Have a look at the HPI motors from MB Models, very good and very good price. £2 over your budget and NEW.

Yea should have mentioned looking for a new one, and budget is around £50 so £52 is a good price, thanks for the heads up, any others worth considering?

That is on my shortlist atm, along with the hpi one.
Just thought I'd ask a few opinions before splashing out because its got to last me all year

We have the orca RX2 motors reduced to £54.99 for the remaining stock. That's with free postage too.

See here

+1 LRP X12

Run pretty hot, but nothing to worry about.

Not heard anything bad about Speed Passion motor's... RC Lazy are having a clear out on ebay, they've only got a 5.5 listed though, maybe a bit too quick ?

They're similar to speed passion but have solder tabs so don't have the issue with connectors failing. I'm sure you be happy with it!

I run a 7.5 HPI motor. I was in the same position as you, and choose the HPI over the LRP due to people saying how hot the LRP motors get compared to the HPI. Some say that the heat is not an issue, but I was unsure. Anyway I am very pleased with my choice.

What about the speed passion v3? I've seen these for £55 ish. Any others worth considering?
Seems the HPI has more followers than the LRP, but the LRP specs show more rpm and kv than the hpi.

We ran an Orca rx2 in the 24 hour race , the temps ranged from 69 to 119 degrees.

It ran faultlessly for the whole period , what a bloody amazing motor.
