Could do with getting rid of the turf as it just wears away and causes massive ruts and kicks the cars up. If you got rid of it and just mixed gypsm and clay with the dirt already there it'd go hard enough not to rut too badly and would hold together, better than the bearded tuffs of grass.

Any Pictures on the improvements?

trouble is there is no soil under the main straight,it is just all stones,to get clay to work we would have to dig down at least 6inchs then back fill,(alot of work and money),the turf works well when looked after ,but last year it was removed by the commitee which caused all the problems we had ,we layed the turf sunday and ran a few cars over the track and was the best i have ever seen the straight,so fingers crossed

Committee didn't remove the turf the cars did!!

But I mean if herts have a grass straight, oh no hold on (and thats a non-stoney track). If slough has a grass straight, oh no. One sec, pendle, coventry, adur, wakefield, kent, actually its funny how every national class track doesn't have a grass straight!! I wonder why that might be!!

well thats funny as i sore guys with shovels removing the turf last year,i have raced at all those tracks and they all have bumpy straights a few weeks after they repair them, clanfields straight was always good up to a few years ago when we stopped looking after the track, hope this will change now we have the track rebuilt,if anyone knows better then feel free to work on the track every weekend like i do with a few members do here,
