Default Steering plate holes

The machined steering plate has 3 position holes, while the non-machined steering plate only has 2 position holes.
Does anyone know if the machined steering plate has the extra hole towards the front of the car or the back?

I believe the std 2 holes are the forward holes . The extra hole is the rear hole
