I've got one of the "Powerpal" type of 4 way chargers, which I currently use with a Trakpower V-balancer to balance charge my saddle lipos.
Was wondering what leads I'd need to do away with the V-balancers as there's provision with the charger to have another lead to plug in alongside the main +ve and -ve leads to the lipo. All my saddle lipos use the 4mm tube connectors and 2mm balance port. Can add pics of the side of the charger if that helps? Cheers in advance. |

The Ansmann 4 way charger has + and - 4mm power connections and JST balance sockets.
You will probably need something like this http://www.futureworldmodels.com/aca...fo_VR1006.html or http://demonpowerproducts.co.uk/prod...wer-etc-p-3620 If you are using saddles, I believe you could charge 2 sets of saddles on a 4 way charger without using a balancer anyway. Charge each cell (half of the saddle pack) separately on each port. Just make sure you have the charger set to 3.7v/1s lipo not 7.4v/2s!!

Don't want to mess about charging saddles individually, just want to look at an alternative to the V-balancer.
The leads you've posted links to aren't suitable - or should I say where it plugs into the charger isn't suitable. Attached are photos of the charger and the "business end" where the leads plug in. I just want to do away with having to use the V-balancers and use the inbuilt balancing sockets instead. Will be much easier when both my daughters are racing too and they can just plug their own trucks in to charge. |

Did come with one but no idea where it went. How do i convert that 7 pin plug and +ve and -ve sockets to 2 x 4mm plugs and a 2mm balance plug I guess is what i want to achieve. Want to keep it as simple as possible without a myriad of wires plugs and sockets. Not just for the kids but me as well!

Yep, (as stated)

Yes that's the lead that came with it Mick.
I want to do away with the balance board part though (too many connections - it's bad enough sometimes if the pit table gets jolted and the V-balancer doesn't like it) and plug the charger directly into the saddle lipo. Assuming I was to buy one of those balance boards, cut the balance board off and keep the plug that goes into the charger, how would I identify which of the pins (1 - 6 & -ve) on the charger socket to wire up to the new charging lead to the lipo? All I want coming out of the charger to the lipo is the main +ve lead, the main -ve lead, and whatever wires from the balancing port needed to hook straight up to the lipo (effectively replacing the multiple balance board with only the wiring I need for my lipo). Would it be a case of checking the continuity of the 2S2P socket on the balance board back to the socket that plugs into the charger? Not sure if I'm making myself clear on exactly what I'm trying to achieve? |

Cheers Mick. I think I know how to do it just looking for someone to confirm!
I'm going to buy a balance board, and the lead to the lipo that plugs into the board. Then check what wires have continuity for a 2S2P lipo, do away with the board and solder the relevant wires up. All I will have coming out of the charger then is the main +ve and -ve leads, and 3 wires from the balance socket, +ve -ve and balance. At least it means I can sell the 4 V-balancers I've accumulated!! |

It is possible to plug the balance lead of the battery directly to the charger. As so: MiCk B. :-)
