Talking ansmann core vs sc2

hi there,

just comparing ansmann 2wd sc trucks and it appears the core truck is 60mm longer than sc2 truck, how is this possible because found both chassis parts and they seem the same on both
or are the ends longer? longer front nose?

also where can i find proper dimension rules/brca rules that if its been brca affilited?

cheers

The Core has a longer chassis and wheelbase than the sc2, the sc2 was just a macnum with SCT wheels and body so dimensions were all out compared to other sct's

Core is a good truck and very competitive with ball diff and cvd's as standard, shocks are usual Ansmann weak plastic jobs so would need upgrading for racing.

Sct's are not a BRCA class so there are no written rules on dimensions, it's basically covered by available bodyshell dimensions and wheel size rules for racing, plus they must run bumpers in style with the class. there are some homemade chassis conversion trucks out there

Rob is just mocking the fact he thrashes me with my old CORE after changing to a lovely Losi XXX-SCT...

although the excuses are that at the last meeting i was only getting 75% throttle due to a speedo set up error, did notice my truck was on the track a lot more than on the pit table and my tools didn't get as much use that night

Its only jokes... the CORE is a spot on truck and Rob really flys with his

Just check wishbone part numbers between CORE and SC2, got a feeling the SC2 is a bit wider as it runs truck wishbones compared to buggy ones? not 100% as Ansmann knowledge is a bit sketchy.

Core uses truck wishbones and turnbuckles. Just looked at the sc2 instructions and it appears to use the buggy wishbones. So to get it the same dimensions as the core you would also need to buy the macnum wishbones and turnbuckles. So the parts you would need to buy would be:
  • Chassis
  • Macnum wishbones
  • core front and rear shocktowers
  • New larger bodyshell
  • truck shock shafts
  • truck turnbuckles front and rear
  • wheels and tyres

Looking at that list you would probably be better buying a core in the first place. It would definately be more cost effective.

You could run an SC2 as standard but you will sturggle to get tyres and wheels to fit.

So unfortunatly it's not as simple as just changing a chassis I am afraid.

If you do decide to buy a CORE, then I would strongly asuggest looking at getting the X2SC straight away as it comes with all the bits you need and the price difference isn't that much. You would only end up spending the difference on hop ups anyways if you are planning to race one.

With it being the dimensions it is I could imagine it would be more akin to a buggy than an SCT. So on a tight indoor track it would kick an full sized trucks ass in the tight corners.

I have not driven an SC2 sized truck but I could imagine on a big bumpy outdoor track it wouldn't handle as well as larger truck. SC10 sized trucks soak up the bumps and jumps with ease due to their wider stance and long wheelbase. The SC2 being shorter and thinner would probably be less stable and harder to drive. I guess the only way to find out is to drive it though, and see what it's like.
