Default New Club

Does anyone have a guide to starting a new club, I live in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, England, I work on a private access industrial park, we have field which would be ideal for an outdoor track, I just need to sweet talk the owner.

Obviously if I get it up and running he would want some financial reward, do race meets normaly expect people to pay an entry fee to the competitors and if so how much ?

catch 22

To start a club, you need people; to get people you need a club.

Knaresborough is in the area of Harrogate which is NE region. Graham North is the BRCA rep for the region and should be able to give you very thorough advice in terms of what the rules are for the club, what you need to do etc.

In terms of getting people there, if you are able to source lap counting, track markers, perimetre track fence, rostrum - then perhaps hold 1 or 2 events and let everyone know about them here and see how they go and take it from there. It may be worth asking if York Club would like to use the land (if it is better / cheaper than current location). And if there is possibility of owning the land for the sole purpose and building a permanent track then id certainly ask for involvment from York and you will get more help than you'll ever expect I am sure.

Like Shane said £4 to £10, but for £10 it'd have to be pretty damn good.

Zedman,

I would strongly suggest that you spend a few minutes reading through the libary page on www.brca.org

There is a load of info in there about starting / running clubs.

The insurance is through the BRCA too ......

Let me know if you need any help, as NE regional rep I'll help all I can.

There is soooo much more to it though than just a bit of land.

Default cheers, if the site owner says no its all over but

cheers, if the site owner says no its all over but he's a nice bloke.
I'm 44 years old, a manager in my company, and have a a good all round knowledge in engineering, building, people management and money )
But if i can pull this off it will be a big bonus to Northern racing as well as giving lots of kids and grown ups an excuse to race more )
I can appreciate this will be a big battle requiring lots of help and sponsorship and funding, dont want to get anyones hopes up so lets see what happens.

heres a google shot of the Location
