Default Split second lipo short !

I'm so annoyed at myself, lol

Bought 2 new hard case 5000Mah 40c stick packs today, whilst connecting one to my charger i stupidly connected the charge/balance lead to the battery 1st, then before i'd connected the other end into the charger allowed the lead's + & - to touch, it was a fraction of a second but i still heard it. No other symptoms, no heat, smoke etc. I decided to charge it up whilst keeping a watchful eye, it was 7.7v when i started (from the shop) & it finished at 8.41v. No swelling or indication of damage.

Have i got away with it or is it now doomed ?

for high capcity Lipo, that would be ok, just think of it as a sudden burst of throttle, but for those tx batts, that will tell the end of it. as i have busted 3 tx batts already... huhuhuhuh

Lots of us have been there and done this, you should be fine, big Lipos do seem pretty durable.

Cool, those comments have put my mind at rest (goes home to find house burnt down, lol)

I've marked the battery that shorted as i bought 2 together so i'll keep my eye on it to make sure it behaves for a while.

Cheers.

I shorted my 6cell pack for my T-rex500 through my side cutters some time ago,was changing the connectors, cut one wire at a time, but the + touched the cutter as I was doing the - side...made me jump about 3ft out of my seat with fright, now have big burn mark in side cutters, pack was fine tho
