Default 410 diff oils and sounds Q

Two question here:

1.
Ok so my 410 is working well, im happy with it so far but I have been reading different set up sheets and Im a little stumped.

set up 1 has high grip carpet and driven on minispikes
15000F / 3000R diffs
1.5F/1.3R sway bars

Set up 2
similar track conditions and tires
5000F/7000R
no sway bars

Most of the other parts are the same or are real close, why so different?

Is this then down to driving styles and what they want/like?
Can you in the know see a big difference in how the 2 cars would handle?

2.
My other question is does anyone use grease/crc/556/wd40 on the drive train/dog bones/pins etc to keep the noise down and parts running smoothly?

I was looking at some Teflon spray or graphite powder, but will this help out or attract debris?

Thanks

some people swear by oil/greasing the drivetrain both 1/10th and 1/8th i tend to run mine dry and just keep an eye on bearings etc.
Diffs i run on high grip astro and also carpet and run 5000 and 2000 front and rear accordingly.
Mini spikes on astro or D Boots and mini pins on carpet.
shocks 6 hole 1.3 rear, 6 hole 1.2 front 35wt all the way around with a rear anti roll bar, ride height set at approx 19 to 20mmn on astro maybe lower on carpet dependant on grip and severity of jumps, this is similar to my old 2010 dex410 but the V3 is a lot more stable to drive with this set up.

Thanks Chris but not really after a set up just more wondering if it is just personal preference that the same/similar track can yeild such different setups?

Why the rear roll bar?

I only have the small bore atm as the BB won't really fit with the shell im running, but may have to give it a trim. You think its just the BB that make the difference, as isn't the v3 pretty close to the previous version?

Ride height Im looking at around 17-20

Im looking at neumanns and nathans set up just now

kiwi
Every driver on every track prefers their car set up differently depending on their own driving style, i cant say for certain that it is just the BB's all i can say is that first time out with the V3 it felt less edgy than the old version and i was close on my old lap times straight away even though for some reason the electrics were swapped straight over but i was running out of legs on the straight which i never used too, have re checked it all over and reset the esc so next time out will tell.
Rear anti roll bar i found with the old car for me it stabilsed the back end, could have just been in my mind but hey if it helps use it, so have just kept it on the new car, although a lot of people running Durangos at my track don't run any and one runs both!
Try it and see what you think?

i think what Kiwi is trying to ask is what are the characteristics differences between to 2 different setups

oop's miss read / understood,
Lower front diff oil car turns in better, lower rear diff oil better rear traction(drive), anti roll bars to stop wheels lifting on cornering so increase corner speed.
I used to run 12500/5000 until every one else lowered their diff oils for the above reasons and got faster so followed them and it worked!

i found when i ran the back diff a lot lighter than the front the back rotated to quick and give to much steering i then run 7000 f and 5000 r for a wile and liked it and then david poulter came over and said to try 10000 all round and it works a treat

That could be the reason that 5000 and 2000 works so well a lot less agresive on the back end, must say have never tried 10k in both, might give it a go!

i found it easier to drive smooth and consistant with the heavyer diffs 10k all round it is absolutly dialed for polished floor and was quite good on astro i needed to get the rest of the car good but i think the diffs wer better 10k all round for astro to i found runnin 5k f and 2k r or 7k f and 2k r the car rotated to quik and giv more steering and u dont need steering with a durango

yeah thanks for the replys, I am after a bit of steering but not the rear end flick.

I only have 12500 oil ( no 10K) plus others so may just give that a try. Ill also try the rear bar see if I notice a difference

Best of luck Kiwi it will be interseting to find out what differences you notice as you change the diff oils and rear anti roll bar!

It will be an eye opener, and hopefully I can do an ok job with the car
