Hobbywing 120amp green light flashing in nuetral pos.

Just noticed that the green led flashes when throttle is in nuetral position.

I currently have a hpi flux 5.5t sensored motor.

Looking at the manual it is saying that the esc detects there is a sensored motor but ther is an abnormal signal so switches to sensorless mode.

So first i swapped the sensor cable and the led is still flashing.
I then swapped the motor and still flashing.
I have reset the esc but still no joy.

Any ideas on why its still doing it or is the esc damaged and what difference in performance will sensorless mode comparing to sensored?

When i switch it on there is no blinking, but as soon as i open the throttle and put the transmitter back to nuetral it starts blinking but only in nuetral.

I have a dex410r.

The firmware is 119mod if that helps.

it sounds like its starting in normal then dropping into sensorless mode

on first throttle application does it rev up hard ?
then when light flashes does power drop off ?

this usually indicates sensor wire/ sensor board issues

try swopping sensor lead then motor

i have had few do this i have "repaired" them by reshimming rotor closer to sensor board

I have had 6 HW speedos and no failures yet all have been motor / sensor lead related

do you have another ESC to rule out the motors ?

I read this in rc tech.....

a) "V3.0_110930_MOD" is an improved firmware version based on "V3.0_110119_MOD"; the new firmware has been updated to improve the fault tolerance of the signal quality of the Hall sensors within the sensor board of brushless motors.
The old firmware was found to be too sensitive to any small change of the sensor signal, in turn causing the ESC to frequently switch its running mode from sensored to sensorless. The new firmware is not as sensitive, so the ESC can still operate in sensored mode even if the signal has slight changes in amplitude from small error, that might eventuate this will help Mod motors which have very large current flows which cause the signal within the sensor board of the motor to change frequently causing unnecessary errors ."

Maybe its the firmware thats causing it?

And how do i do that?

I have the 2 in 1 program box and usb.

It does prompt me to update but when i try it just says update fail.

What is the corect way to update it?

You need to plug the card into the pc and the speedo into the card and then turn the speedo on. You can choose to update the card or the speedo. Do the card first to make sure it's up to date and then select thE speedo and update that. Happy to bring the laptop to torch in the new year if you don't have any luck

This should be the software you need, un-install your current version and then install this:

and then follow Dibble's instructions. Should be all good after that.

Do you mean uninstall the v1.62 on my laptop and then install the link you given me?

I have tried it but when i open it, it is asking me what program to open in order to use it.

Ok. All done. Upgraded successfully, but unfortunately its still blinking the green light. Does this mean the esc is foobered?

So what is causing it i tried everything, change sensor wire, swapped motor.

Its recommended to carry out your upgrade twice,sometimes if you only do it once it doesnt "get"all of the new information,cheers PC.

Yeah, I did everything twice so the upgrade is fine.

The 6 pins that come out of the esc, have they known to come away from the board? I have had that problem with one of the brushless motors where one of the pins have come away from the solder. Managed to solder it back on, and the esc worked in sensors mode when it was all hooked up. Is there anyway of testing esc for this?

Cheers for that. That guide really did help me to no end.

Done all the upgrades 'twice'.


However, the esc is still blinking and the car is cogging. What's the next step? Is esc faulty.

Been having the same problem, motor runs for a bit then stops - switch it off and back on again and runs ok for a bit then flashing green light on.

Was told it was possibly battery related (not high enough C rating) and it was pulling the ESC into failsafe mode. I'm using SAVOX 1251 servos in buggy and have now got a power cap installed to try this week.

Disconnecting the sensor lead gives me a red and green flashing light and it goes into sensorless mode - flashing green only is supposed to be overheat protection. Tried the 930 software but have gone back to 211 for this week.

Hi.

Not having any issues with motor stpping and starting. Mine is red and green blinking it just looks as though its green because its so bright. It just kicks into sensorless straight away.
