Default Lipo Advice

Evening folks.

I need some advice on looking after lipos. Bought a couple of packs of 6200mAh 60c 7.4v lipo stick packs. Basically can I have a bit of advice looking after these so I don't fluff these up:

1. Charging
2. Storing between weekly race meetings
3. Storing for a long period of time
4. Discharging for storage purposes

I'm using a LRP Pulsar 3.

Any advice and tips would be cool.

Thanks in advance.

Andy

buy a charger with a balancer or get a inline balancer for them,
store them with what ever is left in them unless ur just bashing with them, then store them at least half charge, never ever let them get below 6
volts or there as good as dead.
charge them run them then charge and run them again as many times as you want, they have no memory, so can be charged used and charged again as many times as u like basicaly,if your going to leave the for months store at 75% charge most chargers have a store charge mode,
ps never ever discharge them not need and as i said below 6 volts and there as good as dead.

hi Andy
just balance charge them all the time, and make sure the lipo cut off on the speedo is active.
store them after your race as they will have plenty in them. Just don't leave the speedo plugged in as the capacitors can drain the cells slowly.
if you have a break for several weeks then just top the cells up a bit. But if you are racing weekly they won't need that

Default Lipo Advice Pt 2

Cheers for the advice.

One question which I hope you will help me with. The packs are fully charged but I won't be running over the Xmas break. What is the best way to store ten and what would be the best way to get rid of some charge and how much? That was 3 questions.

Some for sounding completely stupid, just don't want to ruin these packs.

Cheers

Andy

just store them as they are Andy. They don't lose charge when stored, so will be fine. just run them in practice next time you go racing and then recharge as normal

Don't leave them fully charged.

Normal storage voltage is 3.85v per cell.

If you store them fully charged you accelerate the ageing process.

Easy way to bleed some charge off is to put them in the car and drive it. If you don't have a multi meter then just put them on the charger to check the voltage.

I agree. Don't leave them stored in a fully charged state. The storage temperature is also important. Do not store at an elevated temperature. High SOC and elevated temp increases the level of irrecoverable capacity loss. Optimal storage is open circuit, 40% charged (3.80-3.85V) at 20degC.

What's the issue with discharging them to 3.85v/c?
