Default Spektrum DX3S and Tamiya TEU101BK problems

I run an M05 with a Tamiya TEU101BK esc, 7.2V Nimh and 540 Black Can Motor.

I use a Spektrum DX3S radio and SR3300T Receiver.

My problem is that when I need to reverse there is a lag of a few seconds before anything happens and then I get full speed reverse straight away, which more times than not propels me into another situation where I need reverse again.

Is there any way to over come this either in the way the radio or the ESC is set up ?

Thanks in advance,
TMG

that is supposed to happen , you have to have a delay between forward and revers or it will damage your gearbox, just don't hold the stick at full revers while your waiting

Is there any way of limiting the amount of reverse ?

Just enough to get you back on track as opposed to warp factor 5. Seems to be quicker in reverse than going forward.

Try reducing the End Point Adjustment for reverse on your transmitter down to say 50%. I think the power output of a TEU 101 is limited in reverse so it shouldn't be faster unless you've got the motor wires crossed up and it's actually running forwards in reverse anyway if you see what I mean (but that can't be happening or you wouldn't get a delay when you go for reverse, theres no delay when your're in reverse and go forwards again). Maybe you just perceive it being "faster" in reverse as M-Chassis cars - being FWD - get better initial traction when they're going the wrong way as they become RWD so the driven wheels load up better.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try.
