Talking Which ESC should i buy?

Hi
I am starting back up racing after a 20 yrs break and I'm after a little advice, I am going to buy a Schumacher cougar sv but I don’t know which ESC to buy as I'm a little out of touch. I want to go Brushless and use Lipo batteries. I'm looking at spending around £100
Any help or advice would be great.

Thanks

For the money i would go for a hobbywing.

http://www.giantcod.co.uk/xerun120as...-p-405854.html

identical inside to a speed passion but just a cheaper casing is all the differences that you will notice. can take down to a 5.5 offroad and 3.5 onroad it says which is more than you would ever need.

i got a xtream stock one for my 10.5 touring racing and its rapid.

I guess your final choice depends on what you want to do with the ESC and if you buy it for one specific car.

Budget
2WD / 4WD
Competition or Hobby
Turn limits motor
Voltage range / 2 to 4S
Setup possibilites via USB or other
Forward only or Forward / backward mode
Active cooling or not
Soldering or pre-wired

I have in use the following ESCs in my cars which I can all recommend:

Speedpassion GT 2.0 Pro => a bit big but my favorite for setup, feel etc.
Tekin RS Pro => very small, in use when space is an issue in the car
Novak GTB => a bit big & old style, but I like the super-smooth Novak power regulation feel. I run this in my Cougar.

In the Cougar you can fit most ESCs, but some fit better for installation and cooling (check the wiring scheme in adavnce on pics)

Maybe look into getting a top ESC as used from the oople forum.

Some years ago I would not have bought a used ESC but today I would as some products are really bombproof.

Have a look at the link in my sig, Racers In Exile are the offical UK importer so full back up. I'd go for the 120A V2.1 unit, will take all you are likely to throw at it racing 1/10th off-road without issue.

No idea why anybody would by a 60A ESC like the LPF when they can have the 120A version for less.
In case your not aware the Speed Passion ESCs are made for them by HobbyWing

I came back to the hobby recently after a few years out and bought the Hobbywing 2.1. For £90 you can't complain one bit, very good.
