I am currently racing a x11-08 but now thinking of doing 2wd too. I used to have cougar2s lol many years ago. Am now looking at the moden ones. I will buy kit new or a srcond hand car to use with a conversion kit but am lost on what to go for.
i am looking for peoples opions good and bad on the current cars. E.g. Dex210, 4.1, losi 22, cougar sv etc pleadr help lol manic

I run the 22 all season from new out the box...poo. Needs springs and hubs, weight. In my opinion easy to drive rear motor but not fast, really hard to drive mid motor. (hours of tuning and back to back testing)
210 Loved building it, built it with the same sort of set up as the 22 with the parts included in the box. Without a proper run I don't know how well it will go, but if something needs tweaking ot ain't gonna cost more money! get a 210! |

If you were to get yourself a Vega RB5 you wouldnt be disappointed. If you look back through the Vega owners feedback thread on here you will see what I mean....
![]() The only downside if there is one is the cost. To buy the donor car and the conversion kit works out a lot more expensive to buy than say a new 210. You do get 2nd hand ones come up occasionally though so that may be an option.....? There is one for sale at present on here, although I dont know the seller so dont take this as a recommendation for that particular car from me - just highlighting that it is there.

Ben, get a vega or a c4.1 when it lands. The vega's are made amazingly and drive so well. You have loads of choice with donor car as well, kyosho, tamiya, associated, from seeing the c4.1 protos drive that platform is set to be a clonker as well....I know it was in the hands of top flight drivers but you only have to look at the close of the national series to see its going to be pretty special.
I'm not suggesting that buying a new 2WD is a 'two horse race' because there are plenty of really good buggys out there (x6, 210 etc) but both the suggested cars are either currently brilliant....or def set to be ![]() The build quality of xtremes vega platform is truly breath taking mate ![]()

![]() I think its going to be 50/50 with the c4.1 and dex 210 this coming 12 months Ive gone for the c4.1, will see if ive made the rite choice when it comes out lol

Dex 210 is a lovely kit just finished building mine and its awesome, but they are like rocking horse manure to get from what ive seen.
Cougar decent car but at my local club the chap that drives one has had loads of problems with it. B4.1 again decent car and spares are usually easy to find. Losi 22 is a good car once its all dialed in until then its an absolute ***** Overall if you can get a dex210 you wont be dissapointed and its also damn good looking!

I have a 201x, i know people look down at it as a tamiya. The car went together very well and it responds to set up changes well. It only took three races to get a set up i liked and once set has proved very reliable and strong, so far ive been able to get all spares quickly and cheaply. I also run a DB01R and a lot of parts are cross over which helps keep spares at a low level.

I'd say either the dex 210 or a b4.1
The b4 is race proven and has loads of options and spares are easy to come by as is the advice and setup info. The 210 is new but already done well in races, its first outing won the oople race. And as i'm sure there are loads of drivers who have them now setup advice should be easy to get, there is also great support on here from the team drivers. I had a losi 22 but want a 210 now |

Vega !
Honestly, the 210 looks awesome and seems reliable but we don't know how it drives with a normal driver, same with the C4.1 but I've heard reports locally and it seems to handle really well on astro. What I like about the Vega/Kyosho is reliability, broke almost nothing, no issue with ballcup popping out, etc. I would love a gear diff but no room available inside the gearbox. My B4 broke way easier than that. Expensive, but the new RB5 got big bores stock and apart from some parts like alloy hubs, you don't need hopups parts everywhere. Not much plastic on the car, aluminium mostly. Looks cool. Handling on the Vega is great, very smooth, lots of traction and not touchy once you made a mistake. Easy to setup too, not one good setup and nothing in between. Wouldn't use it on dirt, got a B4 for that. 210 still looks great, might buy one to try. |

I was looking at the losi but i noticed how many there where for sale and how oftern they come threw for sale. So that sort of put me off
as a pred user i like the idea of a vega as made by the same people i guessing the same amount of time and effort went in to it. i like he b4 /4.1. But they do seam a bit soft for the every day racer. Not taking anything away from the car in the hands of a pro driver is one story but the two left thumb driver is a differnt story. still the 210 is geting the votes. Has any one got any thing negative to say bout the 210? ?????? Ben

![]() AHHHH NOOOOO ![]() ![]() ![]() B4.1 tested design, well made, extra weight easy to add and well made brass parts are easy to get hold of. Can be a C4.1 if you wish, not to bad to set up, and the best car in the world ever by results, and good back up for parts And I don't even drive one,I have a 22 but I must say it's not as easy to live with as my trusted B4, At this time most who have bought 210's are in love,they need to live with the tart for a while before they can give an honest answear as to how good it is....like all dingos, it's sweet on the eye

I would also look at what is popular at your local tracks, this will save you from buying a lemon that isn't well suppourted.

I'm close to finishing my DEX210 build, and seriously... Get either that, or an Ansmann. Why such extremes?
The DEX210: I'm very, very impressed by all the clever features in it's design, and it's adjustability may just be better than anything ever designed! ![]() There are currently some problems, the main one being the ball diff. Don't let it put you off this car though, when care is taken during the build the diff problems should not occur, and the other problems are not nearly as big and relatively easy to solve. Plus, Durango should have their gear diff available soon, which of course will be less sensitive to how it's assembled. An Ansmann: Pretty much down to it's price only. It's not a special car or design, but I've seen the Team-C cars (very same model) in action, and I have to say I'm impressed with their quality vs. price. They are so much cheaper than any of the 'usual' competition brands, yet the design does give reasonable durability. I haven't driven one so I can't comment on it's handling, but unless you're completely pro you might not be able to draw the full potential of a more expensive car anyhow, and thus the difference in performance may prove insignificant. |
