Planning on having a go at short course and decided to go for this kit.
I currently have a 7.5t brushless motor ( 540 ) and a speed passion lpf 2.0gt and wnt to know if this setup is any good. It says on the modelsport website that the kit spec says 540 type motor only. Im just a bit worried that the esc and motor wont be up for the job. Would I be better off getting a 550 motor, im guessing the 550 means its a longer can and will it fit in the losi xxx? What do you guys run in 2wd short course and what advice can you give me regarding motor and esc combo? cheers James |

It should be fine. The 550 motors are mainly for the 4wd SCTs, with heavy drivetrains due to centre diffs.

Sounds fine to me. I run a 7.5T in my Losi XXX-SCT and it's never short of pace. Great for reducing front tyre wear also
![]() Seriously - you won't want anything hotter IMO else things can go horribly wrong very quickly... Great fun though ![]() ![]() |

You won't need to upgrade the transmission - but you might choose to fit a ball diff at some point in the future.
You might want to get the lexan chassis cover (LOSB2225) to keep the dust and grime out. It's not waterproof but it helps. I have fitted a smaller 82T spur gear to mine and fitted the orange/yellow fibre slipper pads from the XXX-CR / 22 - (LOSA3123). The spur gear enables me to get the motor a little bit further forward and the fibre slipper pads are more durable and progressive in their slip action. Pinion for a 7.5T - I'd start with around 18/82 and tune from there. If using the stock spur gear, notch it up a tooth or 2 on the pinion. |
