Default TD210010 DJOINT CENTRE DRIVESHAFT SET for 410

Has anyone tried the new double jointed drive shaft set yet? If so, were they worth it?

Many things are put into production, which at the end of the day are just nice bling. Worth it if you want bling. Perhaps I should have been more specific and not used the word 'worth'. What I should have asked is "does anyone have experience using them?" E.g:-
  • What advantage do people find they deliver? E.g. less driveshaft wobble.
  • Is there any issues with battery clearance - the current shafts are 1mm off the top of my lipo's. I couldn't afford anything to sit lower.
  • Are the pins easier to retain?
  • Etc.

These shafts should have a reduced angular velocity pulsation than the standard shafts. In theory this system will result in less rolling resistance, so the car will accelerate more quickly and have a higher top speed. It also should reduce tyre deformation at high speed. I've never used them, but I expect the top level drivers might find them an improvement on low traction surfaces. For novice drivers they might be just a bit of bling

My view is that you may get a little less pin wear as there are now two of them and they are not at such a steep angle BUT not you have half the wear over 2 pins instead of one. There will be less vibration if any of the shafts or outputs are off and that means that the bearings will have an easier time as they get pushed and pulled hard with that angle of shaft. The only trouble is that you now also have two pins to retain instead of one. It is a large expense for a very little gain in my opinion.

I took the plunge and got some last week the first thing I noticed was how free the car run with them on!

I run at the weekend on very high grip tight, carpet for 6 min races, I thought this was going to be a problem as sometimes have problems lasting 5, but as alot of people were struggling to last 6 mins (we don't usually do 6 min) I was running super cool .

I can't say this is totally down to the 'd' joints but I feel they was a big help

As for clearance I think they give a tiny bit more, not quiet sure how, before the rear shaft was almost on the battery strap but now they is quiet abit of clearance .

Heres a pic of the clerance , i used to run a 1mm washer under the gear hoop to squeeze a little more room for the batterys but have taken it out since i put the 'D's in

Been running them for a few weeks now. The run a lot cooler than the orginal centre shafts, quieter and the car rolls a lot easier as well.

I can see the shaft itself has moe clearance than the old ones, but what stops the double joint itself from sagging down onto the battery strap??

There is a ball and socket joint between the two shafts which stops the joint flopping about.
