Yes it is possible but it's not the best solution. On the corners, the wheels will rub into the body, even if you lift it as hi as possible. If you really want to do it,than you will have to buy some 17mm adapters

I think proline make a front wheel conversion that might not make it so wide.
I bought a rear bolt on hex adaptor for mine off eBay, it makes the wheels a bit wider but I don't race it and it helps handling, I trimmed the body some more to help clearance.
Type SC10 hex in to eBay. I got the silver ones from radshape.
As the front has some much steering I'm still running well used stock front wheels on all surfaces so only did the rears.

I bought AKA adapters for my SC10. I don't race it, so didn't bother me about not being able to use them at a Race Meeting. SC10's are for letting off steam
Not sure about the size worries of 'off-road'. 1/8th Rally X wheel/tyre combo is as close as dammit the same as SC size.
By a set of adapters and have some fun. Especially as you can pick 1/8th Rally X sets slightly used for around £10

P.S. I had to get mine from the USA, think it was A-Main
