Etronix ex2g FHSS failsafe not working.

I bought three of these setups for me and my sons.

Anyway, apart from being hard work to bind by requiring several attempts using various methods, I can't get any of them to failsafe properly.

Two of them, I'm using with Fusion Exceed setups and one with an associated RTR brushless setup.

If I switch off the TX with them powered up, they all go into power. Mine(Fusion) is the worst with it going to quite high forwards power. The other Fusion powered buggy goes to lower forward power and the Associated setup goes into a slow reverse.

I've tried calibrating all the ESCs and even setting the neutral point to wide on the Fusions.

I have tried binding a different TX without any change and then rebinding the original, again no better. The throttle trim was set neutral before binding.
I did try a servo on the throttle output of one setup and when the signal is lost it almost returns to the starting neutral point. So I know that it is definately not working correctly.

I emailed Etronix and got a reply saying either go back to the shop or send the sets back to them. I've replied by asking them for some proper advice because I'm not paying to send three radios back to them. I still have the option of going back to the shop but thought that I'd ask on here first because a lot of googling hasn't found any answers for me.

I have thought of using seperate failsafes, but I think that since the rx is driving the throttle almost back to neutral then the seperate failsafe probably won't work, though I'm open to correction on that theory.

I know they are a bit cheap but I couldn't justify hundreds of pounds on radio gear so please don't just tell me that you hate these and I bought rubbish because that won't help me.

If you go into the menus you can set the failsafe points, and if failsafe function is enabled

Hmm, it's hard to believe that I'm the only one with these probs, especially as it's on all three of our setups and with two different types of ESC.
It was suggested to re-bind whilst holding the throttle stick in the required position to set the neutral point. I tried that with the stick held slightly back and my truck still went off on one when I switched off the tx.
I know that it's unlikely to lose signal, but if it does then I've got an SC10 with a 6.5T brushless setup zooming off on it's own.... not good.

I'd advise anyone else running one of these setups to check their failsafe. It might be ok with a nitro engine, but not with electric.

Bit of an update to this. Last week I emailed Rossendale Models who got back to me quite quickly with some advice that I had already tried/didn't work. I replied telling them so and have heard nothing from them since, so they are not much use.

Etronix/CML distribution finally got back to me saying they had tried some ESC combinations and couldn't find a problem like I have and that they don't advertise the system as having a failsafe even though it says "throttle neutral failsafe" on the Etronix website.

Anyway, at their request, I returned one of the RX's on Monday to CML and sent them an email detailing the problems and the testing that I've done so far (I included a written copy in the parcel)

I haven't heard back from CML, not even a confirmation email.

So I doubt that I'll be racing this weekend which is a blow since I work shifts and don't get many weekends off.

I'm still hoping that I might get a new, working RX back in the post tomorrow but I guess it's unlikely.

Don't think I'll be buying Etronix/Core again

I had the same issue, had to re-bind, and immediately after the thing went to full acceleration.

I fixed it by having the TX ready to bind, then switching the RX on - at this point I sent the bind command from the TX.

The ESC was plugged into the battery port.

Once bound, I switched the ESC off, unplugged the ESC from the battery port and put into the throttle, switched on and set the ESC.

Finally I attached the servo.

Since then, no problems - it just seems to be very VERY picky for the initial binding if not done in a specific way.

Thanks for that but I've also tried binding using a seperate battery pack from my aircraft radio with nothing else connected. Even that didn't work.

I did think it might be an issue with the original binding in as much as I might have had the throttle trim off centre when I did the very first bind out of the box, but I've tried binding to a different rx and still had the same problem and also tried then rebinding back to the original rx and the problem persists.

Well, after a couple of quite lengthy conversations with a supremely helpful John at CML, it looks like we have a solution to this.

I'll update soon as I know for sure.
