Hi Guys,
I be honest but I don't understand all this gearing balls tbh find it little confusing. Right I'm going to be running 10.5t motor in my RB5 SP2 for indoors as the track is pretty small. Was wondering what gearing is good starting point. I have run 27t pin on the 7.5t V3 SP was brilliant outdoors. But I have been told to run or start on 25t pinion? It will be 10.5t V3 SP motor & I know always been told they prefer a higher gearing Any help would be grateful Thanks

If I was outdoors I would probably be putting on something in the region of a 30T pinion on a 10.5 - Indoors by nature you need more lower end power so maybe drop 2 or 3 teeth.
I would try a 27 pinion at a starting point and if it's too soft lower down then lower the pinion and visa versa

Apologies for hijacking the thread a little but.....
I am just starting out with my 2wd (Vega RB5) having raced a B44.1 all summer. I notice that the gear ratios for 2wd tend to be a little higher than for 4wd. Why is this? With the B44.1 I was running the kit 81t spur with a 20t pinion. With 2wd I see the spur is 78t and pinions of 27t are being quoted. Is this what I should be running in my RB5 outdoor on astro with a 7.5t motor? And more importantly, can someone please elxplain why this is so I actually understand it rather than just following suit...? Thanks! ![]()
