Just fitted some alloy rear hubs to my x2c and both sides seem to be binding quite badly. They were second hand but look to be in excellent condition so dont think theyve been damaged. ny ideas?

Is it with the wheels on or off that it is binding?

If you've not got them the wrong way round (....which would be interesting with toe out instead of toe in!); Have you tried crush tubes between the 2 bearings in each hub - the centres from a couple of old bearings with a few shims work well - or alloy 12mm hexs sit against the drive pins better.

It doesnt bind if I loosen the wheel nuts. But they have to be too loose. Will an inner bearing sort it? How many washers? The bearings were an absolute bugger to get in

if your still using plastic hexs, that might be your problem.

Yes im still on plastic hexes. Will the alloy hexes solve the problem without having to play with shims?

add a crush tube between the 2 bearings and you can crank down the wheel nut after that.
