What stick transmitters would people recommend in the sub £200 price bracket?
It has to be 2.4Ghz and has to have multiple car memory. Preferably it will also have an LCD screen with a decent amount of tuning options available as well... Im currently using a Spektrum wheel type and Im not sure that a wheel is for me. I love the wheel for steering, but I really dont like the 'push' on the trigger to brake. It just doesnt feel natural. As a result I tend to accelerate and coast, and not brake very much at all which isnt the best way round the track in my opinion. The guys that are faster tend to hammer it towards the bends then brake and turn, I cant get to grips with that on the wheel so want to go back to sticks which I used about 15 years ago when I was first involved in the sport. I have been looking about and have seen : Etronix Pulse EX3GPRO - £74 Futaba 3GR - £195 Core RC Code 3 Channel - £73 (this looks the same as the Etronix? ![]() Spektrum DX5E - £90 (no LCD screen) Spektrum DX6I - £130 Of these, I like the features of the Etronix for the price. It looks very good value, but I think I remember reading that people were having problems with the receivers with this system? I also really like that Futaba, but is it worth £120 more than the Etronix, if so then why? What makes it worth more of my hard earned..... If anyone of you have any experience / advice on any of these, or have any good suggestions that I have missed off then please let me know. All help greatfully received! ![]()

The Code and Etronix are the same unit, and you're right, they did have binding problems but that's been sorted out on new ones (they have a BLUE receiver) plenty of people at our club use them and all like them :-)

Personally, I would keep an eye out for a second hand KO Universe 3 or Sanwa...

I want something that I can have to use before I next race which will be in 6 days time so if the Etronix has resolved their issues then I think I may go do that route as a short term fix and look to get a higher spec unit further down the line....

Etronix pro has been good for me, and have had good customer service off them when required.

Esprit 3 univers are amazing but still fetching £260+ you could get a second hand Futaba 3vcs for around £170 ish.
Save fort the KO well worth it. IMO. I was lucky and picked up a Boxed spektrum 2.4 KO 3 for £170

The Core with the blue receiver has been faultless on my return, I run 3 cars across nitro and electric and it has more than enough options for all. Also saving as I used to use a KO Esprit II 17 years ago but the Core has been superb so far, only issue may be that as my hands are large it isn't the most comfortable for me to hold.

Thanks Chef, I will look at the KO and Sanwa etc long term but want something fairly quickly to get some practice with at club meets before a bigger meeting at the end of Sept so need to get something in sharpish and the Etronix seems good value for the money.

The DX5e doesn't have much in the way of adjustments and both this and the DX6i need mechanical modification to make them work properly with a car.
I have a DX6i that I got when messing with helis and planned to use it but got an Etronix 2nd hand for my son for a great price and apart from being a bit small for my hands (great for his) it seems to be a great value piece of kit. I wish Spektrum would make a car/boat version of the DX6i. Don't fly much really so I might sell my heli stuff and get a car for myself ![]() |

Futaba 3GR without a doubt. It's at the top end of your price range, but for a good reason; Futaba stuff is superb quality. It has all the features you'll ever need and won't let you down. Been running one for the past 4 years without issue.
I've known some of the cheaper ones on your list to have all sorts of problems, including interference (yes on 2.4Ghz!) and unbinding randomly. If you buy a cheap Core/Etronix you'll just end up replacing it in a year or two for something better. Spend the cash now and save in the long run. |
