Default Good middle-of-the-road 1/10 touring car?

Hello,

My buggies are coming on nicely, but Barley Mow is just so close and convenient, that I'm looking to run a touring car as well.

My plans to run an old HT-1 are just not practical. The hubs are not tight and cannot be adjusted, which means at higher speeds it's quite simply not going to drive straight. It also has no adjustment, spare parts etc etc.

Finally it's just not designed to take hits, and I would expect to smash parts off it as soon as the 5T motor is put into it.

As such I am looking for a touring car chassis and need some recommendations, things to look for etc.

Budget is about £60 (give or take) so second hand is key. I have all the electrics, wheels etc

The cars I have seen within my price range:
* Ansmann ARE-2 (£30 kit form)
* Xray T1
* Schumacher Mi2
* Associated TC5

Considerations:
Something you can still get parts for if needed
Something which is not easy to break (as in, not notoriously easy to break)
Something which has most of the standard items these days (eg Oil shocks)

So, any knowledge on these cars (and in comparison if you know) would be much appreciated.

I'm leaning towards an Xray T1 to start with as I can use my saddle lipos, however stick lipos are cheap enough.

If you are just knocking about the ansmann are2 is a tough chassis. It has universals, bearings and oil shocks, parts are cheap and easy to come across and it's built like a brick. It is a shaft drive and fitting a 5t brushless will be bit ott and you might get a bit of torque steer..

The Xray is a much better overall car, but parts for the t1 are not as easy to get and more expensive. Again if you are running a 5t you will break more things so the car will need parts.

I'm not a fan of associated tc's never seen one beat the tamiyas, xrays or schumachers at the clubs I've raced at so can't comment on that.

You can get Schumacher mi2's for cheap on eBay (about £40 can get you a car with a decent amount of spares)

I should say as much as I will have a 5T motor + ESC to support it, I'll be running a 13.5T motor to get used to it initially.

I don't plan to crash (famous last words) however there may be a possible Xray T2 of interest instead for which I know there is an abundance of parts - however how they line up is an unknown.

Xrays are nice, T2's do well if I cant run Tamiya I would choose Xray as they are both robust cars. Xrays seem more settled, Tamiyas are more twitchy.

Both top though.

I think the £30 ansman for 13.5t would be a good introduction, and then you can just use it as a basher / rally car at the end.

Cheers
