i have had several ESC's uptill now but am always been content about my Tekin RS Pro's. Only downer is the price of these things.
I got recently interested in the Viper VTX10 and VTX10R but I don't know someone who's using this ESC (afaik). Are there people on oople who can give me some intell on the viper-ESC? Now I'm sure it will be good quality but i mean, compared to the Tekin RS Pro. thx

I had a tekin rs in my 2wd buggy up till last couple of weeks and have now put a viper vtx10 in. The buggy feels much smoother to drive and resulted in me doing at least one extra lap and finishing in a much higher position in the final than before. Couldn't tell you if it's the esc for certain but certainly feels so much smoother.
The BEC is also so much better than on my tekin requiring no work arounds for power for my receiver |

I used profile 2 with a viper 8.5t vst motor, just tweaked the boost a little to suit the motor

I'm not impressed by the tekin rspro-bec, mine is very weak and does not give anough power to my system.

strange you should mention that. on my RS pro I had the car stop and go again in corners
and my RS went limp 4.40 into the race and then picked itself up again and I finished the race what can be done? put a direct feed from the battery or something? |

I used a direct feed from my battery to the reciever to sort out the problems with the poor BEC on the tekin but you have to be careful as to what voltage you reciever is rated to or it may go pop!

there have been a few people running the rs pro in Durgango's that have encountered issues with the speedo cutting out.
Seems to be specific to the RS pro and shaft driven 4wd cars. other speed controls dont have this issue |

I had the problem in my durango, but since changing motor haven't had it again.
B4's RS seems weird so I'll put a few more sets of batteries through it to try and figure it out |

the servo draws all the power from the rx and the tekin cant handle it, a power cap on the rx resolved this for me but id also like to see how to direct power straight from lipos.

To wire in direct power from battery
1st Check the voltage rating of your receiver (I use spektrum 3500 which is rated to 9v So long as your battery supplies less voltage than receiver will take your good to go I got 2 spare servo leads I soldered the power connections of one to their respective power connections on my esc then plugged this into the receiver bat connection. With the other servo lead I made a female to male extension lead but only connected the two outer wires (signal & ground) then plugged this into the esc normal slot on the receiver and the esc on the other end. This means the esc doesn't try to power the receiver as well. Your then ready to go, the receiver and servo will power up when you plug in the battery, you just have to remember to switch on the esc as well and all works properly - no more power outs on the receiver Last edited by Rat Monkey; 25-08-2011 at 07:48 PM. what you really want for all the power any servo could ever need is an externsal castle bec. I use this in my moa crawler to power a power hd 31kg torque servo at 7.4v. The output voltage is programmable (set to 6v standard i think) and can supply 10amp. More than enough for any buggy
The difference was amazing in my crawler ![]() http://www.heliguy.com/Extras/Electr...age-Regulator/ Last edited by Timee80; 25-08-2011 at 07:52 PM. Reason: link |
