From what I can gather, as far as the Nationals go, most people are seemingly opting for the 10.5 GM or LRP motors and using the ESC's to alter the timing for more speed down the straight whilst keeping the control of a 10.5 around the corners.
Mark Stiles and SlowOne are probably the best people to talk to on here about all things 12th.

It depends how good you are. Boosted is great for high-wind motors, and not so good when trying to run against Modified motors.
If you think you can make the top 30 at a National, you need to be looking for a 5.5. If not, then I would suggest a 7.5 or 6.5, which you would need to gear about 46mm/rev using an 88T spur, about 44mm diameter rears and whatever is a suitable pinion. Use no boost on the speedo, and start from there to find the best ratio. Don't think about the motor temps, just focus on gearing to get a fast lap. 12th cars are so light that they won't usually bother the temp gauge in Modified. If there's anything I've missed for you, please ask. HTH ![]() |

Well my first official 1/12 outing will be the summer shoot out at sharly park in sept so I will run the 10.5 then and see how I go.
I have had the car out at local track but it is no way like flowing 1/12 track way to tight and technical. I am running it on 78t spur with 40 sumthing piñion on jaco's that are out box And on LRP sxx tc v2 speedo with timing turned up. I am sure from what I can tell I will get then help needed on the day :-) Cheers
