Travelling abroad with my rc ?

Hi guys i am going back to Germany for a while and its the first time i will be travelling my rc car. I just wanted to ask will it be ok to take my Hong nor scrt-10 ( electric) short course + battery charger+lipo battery?

I will put it in my hand luggage i don't want it to get damaged my other bags.

Travelling by British Airways.

Best to leave everthing in full view so they know what you are carrying. Wear the charger plugged in to the lipo on a belt around your waist, plugged in to a small 12v battery so they can see exactlyhow it all works.
It should be interesting anyway

If you want more advice on flying with RC gear, go to Maxbashing.com and look up a chap who goes by the name of 'Beddo.' He did a trip to the U.S. and took his nitro car and associated gear with him on a business trip to race at lots of tracks.

My advice would be to check the weight of all your gear in one bag - carry on luggage can be subject to restrictions. Take all batteries out of the radio gear and carry your li-pos in a proper li-po sack (discharged).

Model race cars may come under the mantle of sports equipment, check with the relevant airline - personally I would box it up and check it in, at a push, pack only the Tx and probably the Li-po into hand luggage.

I don't go on Maxbashing for reasons lol. But thanks for the advice. I'll keep all the radio gear+lipo(fireproof turnigy pack) in the baggage and i'll only keep the car as a hand luggage.

BUT

When i arrive in Germany and they don't allow it, i'll run lol i'll switch my car on FULL THROTTLE and run.

"In theory" if you look at airline regulations, you're not allowed to carry LiPo batteries. But in real life they are everywhere now: Laptops, cellulars +++

I wasn't there, but from what I remember reading it's because they weren't in the car (I assume they were in lipo sacks, but don't know) and customs were not able to comprehend that they weren't bombs (which they are...) so took them. Someone who was there might be more help

but the section at the bottom entitled "Lithium ion Batteries as ‘Carry-on’ or ‘Checked-in’ Luggage on Aircraft" is most relevant.

My advice is to insulate the battery terminals with insulating tape and carry them in your hand luggage. In theory the batteries could be put in the car and checked in... and they would then be classed as "in equipment' but the regs were really designed with laptops in mind (not RC cars).

If they kick up a fuss at the airport ask them to find their IATA manual and ask them to read the section on excepted Lithium ion batteries under UN3480....

When I flew out to Finland I had 4 packs in a lipo carry case that got through fine on the same flight other people's went missing. On the way back I put one in each car and the remaining two in the carry case and again all got through, I think it's more luck than anything else to be honest

Thats made it more harder for me lol.I just don't know what to do. I think i'll be safer sticking it in my car like you guys say. If thats not legal i am sticking it in my pants lol.
