Just had a little look through todays results and done a quick comparison with how we "would" have qualified using the now "predictable" (and boring) round by round method. The reason we choose not to at DMS is plain and simple, our track gets no faster and no slower as the day goes on, so you only need one good "fast" (FTD) run rather than two.

I have only looked at the top 30 times (sorry to anyone in the D or E final), below are the drivers and where they "did" qualify and then in brackets where they would have been under RBR rules, those in green "gained by FTD" those in red "lost out by FTD" those in blue "no differance"........ enjoy!

A1. Lloyd Storey (A1 2pts) same
A2. Darren Boyle (A2 3pts) same
A3. Ashley Wiffen (A3 5pts) same
A4. Kevin Hunt (A5 6pts) +1 place
A5. Kirk Redford (A4 5pts) -1 place
A6. Ian Edwards (B2 18pts) +1 final/5 places
A7. Tony Evdoka (A6 8pts) -1 place
A8. Andy Birch (A10 16pts) +2 places
A9. Chris Ely (A7 13pts) -2 places
A10. Jon Dell (A8 13pts) -2 places

B1. Ian Buck (A9 13pts) -1 final/2 places
B2. David Burton (B8 23pts) +6 places
B3. Alec Springer (B1 17pts) -2 places
B4. Adam Downing (B4 21pts) same
B5. Simon Overall (B5 22pts) same
B6. Scott Faulkner (B6 22pts) same
B7. James White (B3 21pts) -4 places
B8. Christopher Smith (B7 22pts) -1 place
B9. James Blease (B9 25pts) same
B10. Lew Page (B10 26pts) same

C1. Mark Paice (C1 29pts) same
C2. Scott Follington (C5 37pts) +5 places
C3. Simon Crabb (D2 50pts) +1 final/9 places
C4. Mark Townsend (C2 32pts) -2 places
C5. Andy Otoo (C7 42pts) +2 places
C6. Jack Day (C3 34pts) -3 places
C7. John Barnes (C6 39pts) -1 place
C8. Simon Londors (C4 34pts) -4 places
C9. Matt Haskell (C9 45pts) same
C10. Matt James (C8 43pts) -2 places

Great day, well organised and a great track - well done DMS

When will the results be added to the overall scores on the DMS site?

Well run meeting Darren and all from DMS.....
Thank you to Ray Paice too
Good info on the results too Darren .......but no info in what turn motors people were running - LOL

on another note I am known for speaking my mind and some people appreciate me being like this so here goes.......
Some drivers in the A Final and in fact in other finals are 'ANIMALS' and really need to learn some driving skills......
I just had to get that off my chest - now I feel great

Well done DMS

Well done DMS
I will work on the motor turns for next time

I agree also on the drivers comment, I fell foul of some "over enthusiastic" driving in both of the first two legs of the A. I would agree with anyone who said the track was "fast" and did not help with errors at very high speed, but too many drivers were just "out of control" on more than the odd occassion.

Well it was my first regional A final and i was a little disappointed with the driving standards too. We all have brakes on our cars and some people need to find them.

there were than few lewis hamilton moments in some of those finals

Interesting info by the way darren, but possibley skewed by the fact we were all trying to go faster to beat our FTD, if it was RBR then a different mind set kicks in

Ian

As someone who is new to the game and so far has only competed in one full club meeting, could someone please explain the difference between FTD and RBR qualifying, and how they both work?

Very many thanks in advance!

FTD takes everyones fastest "single" run of the day, puts them in order and the top ten make the A next ten the B and so on, basicaly you only need to do 1 good run.

RBR was brought in for ever changing track conditions, were older style grass tracks would get slower as the day went on (as the grass wore etc) or multi surface tracks would suffer through changing weather conditions and no matter how hard you tried you could not realisticlaly improve on your time you had set earlier in the day. RBR takes each round (of the 4) from the day and scores everyone from 1 downwards based on where they finished in that round (1 for 1st, 2 for 2nd and so on down the list) at the end of the four rounds of qualifying, each driver takes their best two round "scores", adds them together and those with the lowest scores make the A, next ten the B and so on. The main difference is, your lowest round "scores" may not neccasarily be your fastest two times around the track itself, but your best in terms of where you were placed against everyone else "in that round".....

Ftd stands for the fastest time of the day, round by round is when you get points for the best three rounds.

Round by round is about being consistent through out the day. Where as Ftd you only need one good run.
