Having spoken to Rob Nelson from BBK earlier today (at some length, lol) the miss counted laps at the GP were down to the location of the PT or handout transponders on the car. Please remember that only 10th 4wd cars were affected.
Now that I am aware of this issue hopefully we can avoid any problems for the new series. ![]() RR.

I have never missed a lap with my PT, be it my 12th or 8th cars. The only thing I changed the weekend was from a xx4 to a B44!

Some of the guys that were missing laps have run there hand outs and pt's in the very same cars all year, nationals and regioanls and at club week in week out and not had one single missed lap. Please don't shout at me but I fear that if you relly on this to solve your problem you will be disapointed. Will you be running the AMBrc at club on the 28th? As I could bring our shortened loop for you to try

Between the CML Raceway winter series and the Newbury MCC winter series it's good to have a good run of local meetings to work and build on the driving skills.
I think I need it. Ta. Elliott 'cheer section' Hopkins. |

I'm not sure what most people do, I personally normally run handouts in the roof section / front screen of the shell as I feel they are a bit too vunerable in the wing. Is that seen as good practice? Have always been told to run a PT off the main chassis deck away from motors and cells as much as possible (i.e. on top of servo in 2wd and either the same place or on top deck near the servo in 4wd). I would also have though that having it too close to the sensor wire on a brushless system might upset it. If you can confirm or otherwise any of these it might help somebody. The more info you can give us the less likely people are to have an issue, at all venues not just yours. For the record I think all my laps counted correctly at the MK GP in both cars ..... however my friend had troubles. |

After i moved Bathys transponder into his wing it counted perfectly. It was in the top of the body before.

Do not want to teach people how to suck eggs but this is how I see it. As the loop is in the carpet below the car then the PT or transponder needs to be as close to the loop in the car as it can get for a good signal. This car has a good layout for a PT as it has only the lower deck to get through and the upper deck if there is a loop on a bridge.
![]() With handouts and a PT the transponder really should have the clearest view it can to the loop. So the position should be chose so as to have the least amount of car in its way. With a PT bear in mind that with the power drain going to the motor that the BEC in a ESC can have a hard time and I would recommend always using a 4700uF 10v capacitor on the power supply to the receiver just in case (get them from Maplin electronics VH57M £0.61), and always have a capacitor if using the higher drainage 2.4GHz receivers. Or the MRT Bug booster is good as it can supply power for upto 3 seconds if the power goes. I know it is a pain to have yet another capacitor or device on the car but as Tesco says "Every little helps" |

Another interesting tip bit that I just un earthed is that a PT sends it's signal stronger in a specific direction.
Using the pic in the B44 above as an example, the signal would be strongest above and below the car. If you mount the transponder on it's side the signal would effectively be transmitting out the sides of the car and therefore be a weaker signal for the loop on the ground. |
