newbie help! wanna do regionals or nationals

im looking into doing a full season of offroad this year instead of touring cars,ive not got a f1,2,3,4,5, licence what ever one of them is? so how do i go about racing this year?
and where is there to race?im from chester, ive run at kidderminster with tamiyaclub.com so dont mind a bit of traveling as kidd is an ace track to go round.

Chester I suppose would be in the North West region of the BRCA 1/10th off-road. I think there are a few decent clubs/tracks over that way but someone from your region will probably be able to tell you more.

You will start as an F5, regionals will be no problem for you to enter, at the end of the season if you do well enough your formula should improve.

Getting into nationals will be a lot tougher, priority goes to the higher formulas and the series has been oversubscribed for the past few years.

Just get out there and enjoy your racing! Ideally get a few club races under your belt before going to a regional, so you get to know your car and the driving style better.

I did North West regionals last year - southport and bury metro tracks. Not as popular as the north easy by far but still good.
Vicky is an F5, (which is what you'll be since you just started in off road) and got into most Nationals in 2006, only a couple in 2007 and who knows about 2008?!? Worth a try though if that's what you want to do.

CHester will be mid west, a very popular region.

To be honest when i lived over there nr chester it was always northern league and there were a lot more clubs running off road then, i know doddy and stan are from that area but i think they choose to do the mid west series for the competition.

Bury and southport are closer but the north east is a more competitive region and with bury, batley and york within an hour you cant go wrong

ive already done club race's at wrexham with my cars and i did do a bit of buggy racing back in the early 90's at frodsham but my stuff was quite dodgy back then(and still is now)i deffo wanna do regionals this year it will be great for me to meet some of the drivers i used to race with and to get away from the too serious touring cars will be great.
so does anyone know where the first regional is and how do i book in?
im already booked in for southport this weekend!! so its all go from there!!

if you mean the north east then i assume northy will have dates sorte in the next 6 weeks or so they usually kick off mid april (ish) There is an online booking in site which is in the regional section on here.

There is york indoor regional a week on sunday which will show you how things are done if you fancy it.

Its also worth noting, that you can only score points in one region during the summer.

you can enter multiple regions, but you can only score an F rating in one region. you will be taken out of the finals and put in your own final of "non-region" drivers so you don't affect the scores of the main field. But it will be extra track time for you so worth it.

You'll be very busy if you do! Plus you can only score points in one region.

Its good to try different regions to try out different tracks but you would need to nominate which region you are scoring points in as your home region.

Also if you race in a another region you wouldn't be able to race in the final you qualify in. You'd be in the bottom or seperate final. This is a rule I don't like, don't think it does the weaker regions any favours.

For your first year i'd stick with your home region with the aim of qualifying for the end of season F3 finals, which is always a good weekend.

Your nearest clubs are probably Oswestry, Southport & Bury. On a Sunday morning all 3 are prob 1hour ish.

Regionals are your best bet for starting off, as already metioned you can score points in one region per class. So I think you can score 2wd in one region and 4wd in another... unless there has been a rule change for 2008.

North West and North East regionals tend to run on different weekends as Bury club run meetings for both.

This rule is essential. Imagine if you qualify BQ because someone from another region has made the A. You then break on the first lap and finish last. You should have been guaranteed at the least an A10 finish instead of B10.
To implement properly if doing round by round, the people from another region would be removed from the standings each round.


but as i said previously, if you are returning to offroad then any extra tracktime you can get will help.

there are a few lads from chester frodsham in the mid west doddy stan tony parr robin lucas phil channon all from chester area.

If you want to do some club racing Oswestry is only about half an hour from chester. about 20 minutes past wrexham I used to race at wrexham good little club. But now ive moved to Oswestry.

I came back to buggies last year and was F5 (doing N.E.)
I did all of them and didn't bother doing Nats as I wasn't sure if I'd get in, and I didn't want to keep travelling to them to be told I couldn't race.

After doing the Regionals, I got my F3 for this year, so stand more chance of getting in to Nats, so thats what I'm doing this year.

I'd do your Regionals, get into the swing of things properly, then do Nats next year. The regionals are great meetings, nice and relaxed compared to your TC meetings. And the people are mega friendly too. You won't regret it.

i ve just got back to buggies in the middle of last year and just did enough reionals to get my f5 for this year and like tel i m diong regionals again this year to hopefully get my f3 for next year and then do nat next year again everone is friendly and its MORE FUN than touring BORING cars believe you me i m aiming to do as many regionals as possible this year cause i love it the more jumps the better and astro turf rules (east trax)devoted to buggies

If you raced at Frodsham in the 90's you might remember Phil, stan & Robin & I started racing there in about 93! Theres quite alot of people who travel from Elton/frodsham to the mid west meetings & were all going to southport on sunday so come over you might remember some of us. Were the noisey ones
