You know, I'm sure the people who rant on about people hogging the middle lane of the motorway never use the inside lane themselves...

I wonder if the author of that site is brave enough to have a hidden camera in his car so we can all see his no doubt exemplary lane discipline?

On a busy road, the inside lane is a horrible place to be, you are stuck in a row of HGV's, can't see a thing, and if you want to travel at anything more than 56mph you have to keep accelerating and pulling out into a line of traffic every 30 seconds.

I do use the inside lane when appropriate, and middle lane drivers don't bother me in the slightest. I'll just pull out and pass them.

People that sit in the outside lane, now that DOES bother me.

That website is so funny!

The middle laners which wind me up, are those between 11pm and 5am when the motorway is dead, I'll gain on them who are in the inside lane for no reason as the motorway is otherwise empty, and then flash at the utter-dick to pull in, they don't, I slow down 10mph but then undertake with a good long horn blast.

Danny McGee will vouch for my driving, he loves it... ha ha.

Its not just me who hates empty motorway middle lane w****ers....

Why the hell do they drive down the middle lane, not overtaking anything when its empty!! Undertake them when its like this, or get close when overtaking and cut them up(when you pull in)!! Thats what I do (only when motorway is dead)

Yeah sunday mornings is best for that one they sit in the middle lane @ 60mph so you overtake then go form lane 3 to 1 in about 2 seconds to give them a hint, but you look in your mirrors and they are still doing 60 in the middle lane.

Tossers
We had one on the way to Worksop on Saturday, on the M1, Toyota Scarlet, wouldn't pull in to the empty lane 1 when I flashed and so I pulled out went past, pulled in and foot off accelerator down to 50mph til he pulled out to overtake, then accelerated with him a little, then left him stranded on the outside lane. He pulled over to inside lane then.

I hate middle laners too, but only a little more to impatient people overtaking on the left, sorry guys, thats just how I see it, motorways are mad enough places as it is.

A friend of mine actualy though that the inside lane was only for lorries and coaches. I don't expect people to be in and out like a yoyo but if there is a reasonable gap, move over, the motorway flows far better.

Oh, just for info, never sit on my bumper on the motorway, or I will slow you right down, it is the only thing I will react to on a motorway.

I agree with alot of those too

Although its not a motorway, the A52 between the A453 and nott'm Knight roundabout is about 2 or 3 miles long, dual carriage way, two lanes on both sides, and people sit in the outside lane because its the lane they need 3 miles up the road!! sooo annoying

..Nail and head springs to mind here.

This is exactly why they sit there. Because its easier for them to just plod along in their own little world without having to move the steering wheel. My Girlfriends sister does it. She pulls onto the motorway and IMMEDIATELY pulls into the middle lane, wether she's overtaking something or not! Apparently "It's easier to just sit in the middle lane than keep waiting for a gap to pull into."..........THATS THE WHOLE POINT OF HAVING THREE LANES!!!!! They're there for OVERTAKING!!

Personally, I hate these people. I don't mind when there is a full 1st lane, but when its clear for as far you can see...YOU DON'T NEED TO BE IN THAT LANE!!!

It really annoys me when I pull out to overtake something....and then cant go anywhere because there is a lorry on my left, an IDIOT in front of me and the 3rd lane is full of people actually going SLOWER than me!!!
If the IDIOT in the middle lane pulled in after overtaking the lorry (seeing as he isn't going any faster than it), then it would leave the 2nd lane open for some of the trafic in the 3rd lane to pull back in and release the train of cars queing up behind it to move on.

There should be a law against it. If the person in the middle lane is sat there fro more than half a mile when the 1st lane is free, then they should get points for 'not paying attention to their surroundings'.

I was travelling home from cornwall the other year, and I could see a police car charging up behind us. I had just overtaken a few cars and so was in the middle lane. I moved back into the 1st lane to let him past as he was undertaking the cars in the 3rd lane (as the middle lane was the clearest). I'd already noticed an IDIOT in the middle lane further up the motorway with traffic next to him in the 3rd lane and no 'immediate traffic' to his left (but there was a car in the 1st lane further up but the IDIOT had been sat there for ages with no traffic to his left).
So naturally the police car came bearing down on him and.........he just sat there.with the police car behind him for what seemed like ages. it took the cars in the 3rd lane to actually move to let the police car through.
He got past and charged off for a few seconds, then slowed down, lights still flashing, unitl he got behind the IDIOT again...who was still sat in the middle lane. He eventually pulled them over and I assume, gave them a severe peice of his mind for getting in the way and not paying attention.

So if you're getting in the way and causing an obstruction I assume you can actually get pulled over and given a warning for it.

Personally I do as others do if the 3rd lane is full and first empty, and just undertake. If you sit in the first lane long enough the IDIOT will slow down and you can undertake at your own pace. It isn't illegal to undertake if the cars in the other lanes slow down and you are continuing with the speed of the traffic in your lane.

got to disagree about the undertaking, unless you are in a que of traffic and your lane is moving faster than the one to your right.....

Do not overtake on the left or move to a lane on your left to overtake. In congested conditions, where adjacent lanes of traffic are moving at similar speeds, traffic in left-hand lanes may sometimes be moving faster than traffic to the right. In these conditions you may keep up with the traffic in your lane even if this means passing traffic in the lane to your right. Do not weave in and out of lanes to overtake.

Fair point.

But middle lane hoggers need to have there testicals removed and shoved up there bottom, so everytime they poop, the poop all over there own testicles. that'll do it...

I keep thinking I must get one of the scrolling LED signs for my back window and key in "IN THIS COUNTRY WE DRIVE ON THE LEFT" for when I pass 'em
