They had discharged to nothing?
They have such high internal resistance that lots of charging power was wasted as heat? Charger is on it's way out?

You mean that when you used to use them (before they went into storage) they only charged to 3000mAh , and now you have taken them out of storage they are charging to 4200mAh?
If this is the case then it is normal for the first couple of cycles. The electrolyte will have settled within the cell and needs to be redistributed though cycling. The cells may well be getting hotter due to the increased resistance as Dan said. I would be surprised if the discharge capacity is very high though if you were previously only getting 3000mAh. You didn't say what rating cells they are! If you are getting 4100 into 3300's then a lot of people will want to know how! If they are 4200's and you were previously only getting 3000 into them then maybe they were not full discharged?
How are you measuring it? Are you measuring the charge put in or the charge coming out? |
