Default Do It Yourself Battery Hold Down!

Success! I have devised a simple and cheap battery hold down bar. Here's what you need:

1.Two stock side body mounts: $0 (I use velcro on the body, so I'm using the kit ones)

2. Two TLR Nut Insert Standoffs. These are normally used in the front steering on the car. $5 http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...nsert-2-TLR-22

3: Some plastic shims. With the shorty battery I needed a total of 4.6mm of shims on each side. I simply used some shock spacers from my xxx shocks I had laying around. Any type of shim will work.

4. Hold down material. You can use CF, but I am using some aluminum flashing used on roofs. A normal roll will last a lifetime of rc custom parts. I have used it before as a ESC mount in my e-revo and it holds up well. I plan on putting some stickers on it as well, to make it look nice. $0 (many people have something laying round, or this laying in their garage) not sure how much a roll costs. It's thin and lightweight, and super easy to cut and design. You can even trace a b4 battery hold down if you want. You get so much on a roll that you can make lots of prototypes.

5: Two M3 screws. I had a few left over from the build that worked fine. They need to be 10mm or less $0

All you do screw the nut insert into the chassis with the screw. But the appropriate shims on the body mount thread, and then screw that onto the nut. Then you just cut the hold down piece, and secure it with body clips! Be sure to use loctite with both the bottom screw and the top body mount.

Please note that I have made a final one yet, as I got the idea from fiddling with my buggy on the couch today (I'm sick ) and remembering the front assembly. I took the front off and got the inserts out, and then mocked the whole setup on the car, and it works perfect! Won't rub the body either. I will post pics when my order from Amain gets here with an extra set of nut standoffs comes in.

LMK what you think!

Ginally got some pics! Let me know what you think. The hold down part is just two piece of aluminum flashing glued together. I may work on getting some thin cf instead as well.
