Question is the Spektrum DX3r......

......really that much better than the DX3s?

Having bought the entry level DX3e and been thoroughly impressed with it, fancy upgrading again in the near future, so been looking at the 3s and the 3r....

Don't really want to do the whole, buy the cheaper one (3s) and then a couple of months later have to upgrade again to the 3r, so thought i'd ask you all here for your opinion on the two.

As far as I can see the main differences really between the two is the 3r has a 50 model memory and is DSM2.....does the DSM2 really make that much difference? and if you had the choice which would you get?

As per usual thanks in advance

Cheers
matt

(ps i'm ignoring the 3r pro, as that really is a bridge too far, mind you one just went on the bay for only 175)

I bought the 3R some time ago. When deciding, I was swayed by the DSM2 for the simple reason that the RX's were much cheaper and when buying 4/5 of the things it added up to a substaintal saving. (That's when the SR3500 was £80 and the 3520 was £50 (ish))

I am not sure I am good enough to notice the difference in latency of 5 and 11ms, nor with off road and our tracks being seriously off road, it's difficult to tell anyway!

I love it, others say it looks like its made of "kid toy plastic". I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Doubt I will ever need to.

Cheers for reply Ben, good to hear that you've obviously had it for a whole and not felt the need to change/upgrade any further since.

Lol, I don't even know what the different latency settings even do if it's the same build and "plastic" as the DX3e, then that's no probs for me, I like the look and feel of the 3e.

Cheers mate

Funny, I have been thinking much the same - Fabs review of the unit on here has persuaded me to go for dx3-r. DX3-Rs sensibly priced and recievers at £47 (SR3100) is decent value. One question I have is whether it will run my old KO servos (I can't even recall what model number they are but they came with EX-5). Manual and review suggests I can drop the response so they will work, but does that defeat the object of DSM-2 technology?

5.5 will be fine for all digital servos.
