Default It has a mind of its own!!

I have finished rebuilding the tamiya double blaze I got off of eBay. However when I connected the battery pack the thing shot off!!!

I checked the on/off switch and the throttle control but eveything is as it should be. Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers, mark

Cool I will give that a go. The crystals should match as the servos came with the receiver, I never knew turning the controller on first would make a difference.

Cheers, mark

I did exactly the same thing when I got my first rc car mine smashed into the garden table and busted a couple of parts before I'd even used it. I learnt after that too.

I feel like a right idiot, the rubber marks on the sideboard didn't go down too well with the girlfriend. But then again I am fixing her Mini Inferno

Take the pinion off the motor, then turn the tranny on, and then the car. Once you know it's all ok put the pinion back on.

Or simply lift the drive wheels... TBH you should always do this when using crystals (rather than 2.4) just to make sure no-one else is turned on using the same frequency.

Also put the ariel up before switching on. After useing 2.4ghz for a ages when I used my old jr-propo tx I forgot about the ariel and the dam thing went 20yards then went ballistic shot off at full speed and smashed into a kerb and snapped the chassis in two.

Cheers for the help guys. I have managed to get it sorted at last, it is the mechanical servo type. It was really freaky watching this thing lurch back and forth like something from the exocist!!!
