Default Speed Passion GT2 pro question

Has anyone run one of these in a 2wd buggy with no capacitor?

I appecricate that a capacitor will help smooth out a voltage drop and prevent the esc from cutting out in the even of a high current burst, but does this matter in 2wd. I've seen quite a few brushless escs running with no capacitor.

Does it make the car noticably less smooth?
