Default Futaba 3GR?

Hello,

I'm considering buying a Futaba 3GR transmitter. I was wondering if it came with a crystal module, or whether they were fixed at 27mhz, 40 mhz or 2.4ghz?

I'd really like a 2.4ghz set, but I can't afford it right now. I was wondering whether to buy a 40mhz set now, and then upgrade to a 2.4ghz module when funds allow?

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Also, I noticed that they also offer a synthesised version? As far as I know, this is when you can select any frequency from the 40mhz range, without making crystal changes? I'm not sure if I like the idea of this. Is the receiver larger than a standard one?

I'd appreciate some comments,

Thanks.

Chris,

Be careful when buying the 3GR, I almost brought it, until I found out the recievers are about 80 quid alone, the fully sythn ones are the same size as normal, my mate has the 3GR and isnt too happy with it (ie Setup functions etc), check out RC Mushroom for a new KO (works out about the same as the 3gr if brought from Japan!!!

Ive got a 3GR (2.4ghz) and have had no problems with it. Got it for £150 from microtech not long after they came out

The 40mhz version is sythesised, I think there is only about 10 channels to select from.

Theses dont take modules so your stuck with what ever version you choose.

I got a 2400mah Vapextech pack for it from ebay, it was about £8 and I can charge it in the transmitter using my Smart Tray lead and the pack lasts for ages too!

My best R/C buy, and would recommend it to anyone

you can get a non synthesised 40meg version too though? and i could use normal receivers with that?

The transmitter is only £85 too. if I could buy a 2.4ghz module at a later date, I'd be interested.

I didn't really like the sound of the synthesised one anyway.

EDIT: Just noticed they don't take modules. so its the 2.4g one or nothing for me really.

Thanks.

OK, I'm now considering a 3VC.

What is the difference between a 40 meg PCM, and a 40 meg HR set?

Cheers,

Chris.

just got the 2.4ghz stick set with rx from mk racin for £165 tx and rx loads of features, not as easy to set up as my sanwa gemeni 2 but an evening spent with the manual got me straight, you can even adjust end point on the fly and it has a stop watch timer.

I'm selling my sanwa gemeni 2 if yer intrested, it works fine but some folks have no idea what a peg board is or that syntasised 40mhz units like the futaba can interfear with frequencys near yours.

imo if you have the £165 get 2.4ghz no xtal changes no glitches and no putting a 1.5 ft antenna tube on your car so it dosent glitch on the wall of death at cml.
