Default Video CD/DVD help

My mum (bless her) has spent a load of her pension on a big Samsung tele, HD/DVD recorder and a decent PC. What she wants to be able to do is burn her pictures and little video files from her digital camera so after her numerous holidays a year she can show my Auntie and Nan pictures and videos.

Now her DVD recorder considering it's price is really dissapointing. Though it is JPEG, AVI etc compatable it takes ages to display each JPEG and if they are in a folder in a set order it seperates them out and you can only play the pictures or videos seperatly, not together in a sequence.

So to me it sounds like she needs some software to create a video sideshow that the machine plays rather than letting the machine try and play them.

I'm sure you realise I'm out of my depth here but any adivce/help much appreciated.

If she has windows in her new pc she will have windows movie maker which is very easy to make slide shows and edit videos. Plus she will be able to put music to them. I am no good with computers and I have used this program to edit some racing vids so if I can do it then anybody can. Hope this helps Dan.

Windows Movie Maker should do it, came as part of service pack 2 upgrade for XP, and now can only be downloaded from microsoft with service pack 2 (huge). seems to be available here: http://downloads.cnet.co.uk/0,39100210,39059185s,00.htm

But first check to see if its on your mums puter, and check to see what operating system she is running. I had to add it to XP pro on thisen.
