little random but the other day i bought a tamiya f102 which needed alittle work also didnt have a head for the driver and after searching the internet and not wanting to pay alot i came to a dead end, well i thought i did till i was bord last night when i thought go on ill have a go at making 1.
anyway after making plans in my head i got the tool box out and started to have a pop list of bits used. 1 large glue stick 1 mardave wheel nut m3 size are they? 1 6mm shim 1 1inch long screw (to hold it) and 3 lighters stanley knife file 1st i put the spacer on the screw followed by the nut which i had 3mm of screw out the top and started gluing the spacer then stuck to the nut and just built it up and outwards to abig round blob. when i had finaly finished the glue stick i started to heat the blob and shape it to the helmet shape(wet your fingers otherwise it sticks and burns)this take longer then you would think. when it looked more like a helmet i then got the a file and gave it a rub over to take all the crap bits off then the stanley knife out to trim it such as finger prints folds etc till it was shaped correct.then get another lighter and heated the helmet shape running the lighter round it which will melt all the rough bits and give it a smooth finish.(there may be a few defects but hay its home made) finally finished with a lick of polycarbonate paint and a marker pen to draw what you want on it. heres my finished product ![]() ![]() ![]() pic quality is abit crap ready for a new camera but looks pretty good i think. peace out!
