It says that it is the squared version in the title but the chassis and gearbox covers being black suggest that it is the standard X-5 not the squared version. The squared version has white plastics chassis and gearbox covers.

You can buy the X-5 squared from Lesro models in Christchurch, Dorset UK or direct from Xfactory via their website but beware of customs charges. I have just gone for the dual pulley upgrade as well which helps with belt skip.

Hi,
Not sure who that ebay add is but they have been selling X5's for a long time, look through the feedback and I'm sure you'll see previous ones. I think they have started selling the new car but not changed the add. Either way I'd ask the seller to be sure. I eget my stuff as parts so I'm not even sure what the new box looks like? You defo (in my opinion) want to be buyig the squared version. There are lots of (subtle) changes. Part quality, strength and reliability have all been improved. I feel if you build an X5 right, then it really will require little maintenance (mine had some for the first time in 5 months this weekend and that was essentially just a rear diff rebuild).

The X-5 squared has a revised chassis. It is stronger around the sides, has a lot more strength around the front and motor cam area, some other area's have seen slight changes to make a bulletproof chassis. Not only that, but the material is far better than the original X-5 chassis. Plus has a choice of aerial mounts, therefore can mount the receiver in the rear so there is more room for the large brushless ESC's in the front. The squared has a revised shell, although it looks very similar. The new mold has been CNC cut and so is very accurate and fits the chassis 100% perfect. The shell also has additional width at the front around the servo, and has an additional scoop to give clearance and ventilation for the bigger brushless speedcontrols..... fits a Novak GTB great including fan. The white covers are included, these are very nice. That item on ebay shows photos of cars which are all old pictures of Paul Sinclairs and Gregg Hoddaps X-5 (none squared), and the pictures of the parts are none-squared too. I can't see the extra ESC scoop in the shell, nor the strengthening ridges in the chassis.... but to give the seller the benefit of doubt, its worth messaging and ask the question, ask them to identify something which was an addition of the squared. (He may have 'borrowed' pictures so he's not needed to open any of his own kits) If it is not a squared, its mis-reprentation and the seller may not be aware he is doing anything wrong. If its brought to his attention and not corrected, then its deliberate mis-representation..... and he has 10 kits left for-sale. Chris |

Click here for the changes that have been made to the X-5 squared. It is better to contact Darryl at Lesro direct. I purchased my X-5 squared conversion recently and I think the only X-5 (non squared) kit he had left is now being broken up for spares.
