What car is this on?
I used to have this problem when I ran an X6, it was caused by having too much up travel and the driveshaft was hitting the outdrives. It shouldn't be an issue on the B4 as everything is right when built up as per the instructions, although it's still something to check ![]() |

thats strange, had my B4 for 4/5 years now never had a screw snap, I have replaced it about 3 times as on going maintanance, never had a prob with the screw, I have had the locknut fail once, diff just suddenly went mid race (thus why I replace nut and bolt now and again after that
![]() ![]() ![]() Same with the slipper, only prob I have ever had is the locknut failing so I replace that every now & again to. Are you using genuine associated screws that come in a little rebuild kit ?? So no help realy ![]()

How do you tighten them when you build the diff? I personally never use a driver with a handle as you can apply far to much torque. Use the standard allen key instead. Just an idea.

I use a driver, but yes you do need to feel when the spring is compressed,as you say you don't need to give it the bigun, just enough, it's easy to feel when it compressed, then back it off as the instructions, I have tried running mine a bit less tight, but with a 6.5 on good grass you can hear it slip, I know I could over come this with a bit more slipper, but I like the car to be a bit aggressive and I hate that feeling of being over ridden by the slipper clutch....but thats just the style I like
![]() but neil has a point, if you over do it you could stretch the threds/screw thus weekening it, as it is small
