Default Brushless Gearing.....

Hey Hey!

Have the first regional round of the Welsh outdoor season this weekend and in celebration of this I've got myself a brushless system for my lazer.

Not fitted it yet but when I do I'll take some pics of it so you all can see if it fits in nicely or not...

Anyways, being the only Welsh racer with a lazer that I can tell it would be nice to put in a good show!

Can anyone suggest a good starting gear ratio to run with an LRP Sphere comp and a 3 star motor with the standard spur?

Thanks

Mike

With a 5.5 GTB Novak I used 18 / 78

I will be keeping the same with my 4.5 GTB for this weekends regional, I will let you know how that goes.

I am not sure how this would compare to the LRP motors though.

Mike, for Caldicot, I would look at gearing it down a little and if you can, reduce the power on the ESC, Caldicot usualy is a small(ish) track and if it stays dry, goes dusty.

I also ran 17/78 on a small, high grip track. But I have to say the Sphere/3* combo becomes quite brutish then. The "smooth" setting of the Sphere is to soft on a high grip track so I compensated with exponential on the transmitter and the slipper clutch.

I have the new Sphere Competition now and that ESC has 6 powercurve settings instead of two (not considering the rather useless "sportman" setting).

What does the transmission say to fast and brutal motors, on the ZX-5, I have just bought a Novak GTB 4,5, and just wondered If the tranny could keep up with this, Offcourse I have to play a little with the slipper, but is there any tranny problems at all?

thx

For long tracks : 17/78 (kit gearing)
for normal to short tracks : 16/78

Hi folks just got my first brushless setup for the ZX5 its an LRP with a 3star all i can say is WOW it goes up the street like a scalded cat! A couple of quick questions for you tho! 1, The power noticably steps in if i gun it from stand still I take it this is normal for this setup? 2, can i use motor cleaner to clean the inside of the motor like i would a normal brushed motor? Thanks in advance for your kind help!
