Is there an alternative to the DB01/501/511 Diff nut, nut holder & screw? I seem to strip the diff screws as well as rounding the diff nut plastic holder.

Hey bud
I only have experience of the 511 diffs but it sounds to me that you are way overtightening them if you are stripping them ! Have you got the slipper set correctly ? Maybe you are assuming that the diffs are slipping but in fact its the slipper that needs tightening a fraction ?# If you race at Worksop then feel free to pop over and i`ll show you how to set it properly. |

Also think you use a bit too much force and overtighten the screw. You can feel when screw is completely tightened (spring fully compressed). When you have to use a bit more force, be careful.
![]() Use your fingers as a slipper... ![]() Force needed to fully compress diff spring can not strip nut or screw or round diff nut plastic holder. Lee has written a guide, maybe you have already read it?: http://www.trfracing.co.uk/page_1265187551237.html Also, remember to clean/grease the thrust bearing when you rebuild the diff. If thrust bearing is dirty or worn, diff screw will unscrew itself. So check and make sure that it rotates smoothly. Use a 53577 TRF Damper Urethane Bushing ot protect thrust bearing against dust. Simply put on top of diff screw in the outdrive: Just a few thoughts... ![]() |

Agreed. Sounds like you are over-tightening your diffs. I made the same mistake when I first built my DB-01.
I not only crushed the diff nut retainer. I also flattened the stock diff balls making my diffs very gritty.. I have since learned to set the correct tension for each diff and haven't had any problems since. I'm still racing with the same diff parts for the past 2 years ![]() |
